I had a REALLY pleasant experience while previously staying here, as a long-term guest (in town for seasonal work). There are, of course, both pros and cons, but overall, this hotel has Lots of great things to offer its guests.
They provide a daily, hot Continental breakfast with a lot to choose from. They have a very comfortable sitting area in the lobby, as well as a business center. Long-term guests can pay for valet laundry service (like on a weekly or biweekly basis, for example) and can also have packages delivered to the front desk. And they have a pool, hot tub, pool table, small fitness center, vending machines, an ATM machine, and there’s both a bar with food options, as well as a bowling alley with food options, right within the Immediate vicinity!!! They even have some old bicycles out front that guests can use to explore the area (as an additional option, beyond the city’s cash-only daytime shuttle service called T.H.E. Bus, or the local Northland Taxi service).
Plus, the service is SO kind, friendly, helpful, and accommodating! And the housekeepers and laundry staff are Excellent, and very hard workers! (Please consider tipping them periodically, if a long-term guest.) The rooms have roomy fridges, HUGE tvs, 2-piece dinette sets, and Very comfortable bedding! The only downsides I’d say for the rooms are that the interior rooms overlooking the pool have older less effective heating units, the windows are a bit drafty during the winter months, and some rooms need a bit of TLC. But as one of the most affordable hotels in the city, I’d say you get A TON of bang for your...
Read moreAs I am handicapped, we requested a room closer to the front lobby and were given the closest room to the lobby, a poolside room. It was extremely noisy in our room, the door lock to the pool area was partially corroded (the desk clerk advised us not to secure our front entrance as we most likely would not be able to re-enter from the poolside room using our key), and the room itself was very hot, humid, and musty. After reporting problem of the heat and humidity (and trying to set the air conditioning to 60 to at least cool the room...with no success), we were moved into another poolside room. While the temperature problems were better, the noise was not.
Also, if you are gluten-intolerant or gluten-sensitive, prepare to bring your own breakfast items unless a small cup of yogurt and a hard boiled egg are enough for you (they weren't for my teenager). The first morning had one other gluten-free option (what appeared to be Spam with half of the slice warm, the other half cold). The second morning with biscuits and gravy, there was no other gluten-free option.
While I've stayed at and actually have deliberately chosen the Choice Brand many times in the past, this is my second bad experience at their properties this year.
The hotel parking lot and interior did appear to be safe, well-lit, and...
Read moreWe had our wedding reception/dance at the Quality Inn. When we booked our event a year in advance, we were told that if we had 10 rooms booked for our event, our room would be free. We called periodically to check on how many rooms had been booked. Each time we would ask about our free room. Each time, we were told that we had to have more rooms booked. At one time is was just 10, then 15, then 20. We ended up with 23 rooms booked so we did get our room free even though we got charged after reminding staff many times that our room was free. I had to call 3 different times after the date to get credit on my card for the "free" room that we had been charged for. We also experienced price changes in our food even though we were told the prices would not be changing. We would definitely NOT recommend the Quality Inn to friends or family to hold...
