I've loved every one of the many times we've camped at Thomson Causeway over the past 40 years. It holds so many special memories, and is a favorite place to make more. It is, and has always been, one of the best maintained campgrounds in the Upper Mississippi Valley with beautiful views from every site. Sites are closer together than many places I've camped, but arranged to offer privacy. Big Rig access to and in the park are excellent, but be aware some sites can't accommodate a big rv AND a truck or toad. Overflow parking is ample and convenient. Their well marked hiking and biking trails offer easy access through scenic river bottom hardwood forest and along hidden river sloughs. Easy, safe access to the Illinois MRT bike trail can be made from your camp site.

First time staying here. Have drive through in the past. Family from Thomson. Impressed with the shade and quietness of camping. Everyone was very respectful. All spots were full. The only issue was site 110. This is not a good site for a 32’ or longer travel trailer or RV. It is right next to a drainage ditch with a 3’ rocks stacked to protect you from going in the ditch on the drivers side. Drainage on the passenger side. Even with my experience it took a few attempts to get in. Once in. Great shade. Also with only 3 dump stations. Do not be in hurry to leave. Be patient and it will be your turn in no time. Or you can leave earlier on your check out day. Very pleasant experience. I understand why campers come from surrounding states.

This is our second time here. The first time we stayed right off the canal the second time right off the Mississippi. Our campsite was 67, front row seats for the sunsets that also meant from 330-730 scorching hot sun blazing on you, it was worth it. Next time I might bring a shade sail. Bathrooms we're ok. I've been to worse. The one by our camp was a single pit toilet and smelled so bad by Saturday. The flush toilets only have 3 toilets and 2 showers but if you time it right the shower will be empty. I'm glad we left when we did, now that marijuana in is legal it was clear our neighbors were smoking it. Not something I want my kids around. We were leaving anyways and that's not the fault of this beautiful campground.
