Read moreAn Inn with a great potential, which is sadly let down by its staff We had booked the Winnisquam Lake Inn online 3 weeks ago, yet the receptionist couldn’t find our booking. Whilst I fetched my mobile, the receptionist happily continued watching a Bollywood movie or Indian YouTube clip … guests are so rude & inconsiderate, aren’t they?
We showed him the booking on the mobile … and bingo, we were on the system after all! The room & shower were large & clean and the mattress was just right. So why would we never stay here again?
At 8am in the breakfast room the receptionist and his colleagues/friends were talking hospitality business over coffee and waffles. Six of them were leisurely occupying the only table in the breakfast room, giving no indication on when they might make room for paying guests.
When we returned 10 minutes later the breakfast table was filthy, the dustbin was brimming over with their half-filled plates, and the fridge was completely empty, yet the receptionist, who actually works out of the breakfast room, was nowhere to be seen.
We packed our bags quickly as we thought we had seen enough! However, when we tried to hand in our room key cards, the receptionist was still missing. For such cases, the Inn offers a key card drop-off “service”. Given that guests are asked to sign a paper on check-in that makes them liable for any damages to their room, you would think that the Inn makes this a secure service, right? Think again! Keys are left for anybody to take and wreck your room, whilst the receptionist is blissfully absent … you think we are joking? Take a look at the pictures and be pre-warned!
Cheap, but...
