We have been staying in Lake George for years. Our latest stint has been for the past 12 years with our daughter, her family and other friends/family. This year, we decided to try a new place as the one we usually stayed at was getting a little run down. I don't think we will be returning though.||||The Flamingo is under new management and they did everything they could to be helpful and accessible (especially Grant!), however, we heard from many of the long-time people that stay there that it wasn't the same. ||||The beach area is one of the absolute best, with plenty of room, chairs, two decks, and a bridge that people could jump off of into the water. They have a float in the water, too (however it broke during our stay and was removed for the remainder). They should also make a shaded area available or make some umbrellas available because it was HOT with nowhere to go unless you had your own umbrella/tent. At night you could still go out on the decks and it was possible to block out some of the light so you could see the stars.||||The 'cabin' that my daughter rented was really a glorified room with two small bedrooms. The 'deck' outside (maybe 4 feet long out from the door) had a small, cramped table that was outside, however, the people next door and upstairs had to walk in the cramped space in order to get down to the parking lot. That was the view from the 'deck' too - parked cars. So, if you wanted to eat outside you had to secure a picnic table for yourself before someone else claimed it. Same with the barbecues. (We were used to renting a cabin that was spacious and had a living room area that could hold a group of people; it had it's own deck, table and umbrella and down from the deck an outside grassy area with another picnic table and barbecue.) It was very noisy because of the people upstairs and alongside the 'cabin' and didn't have a 'cabin' feel at all.||||We stayed up the hill from our daughter, and when I say hill I mean steep hill. The entire place is very hilly. Our room was like any other motel room with a fridge and small microwave. No cups, no place to hang your clothes, just a set of drawers. Small table outside and everyone used the walkway in front of the rooms (again, in the last place we stayed, each motel room had its own deck, table, umbrella, barbecue). While I can understand not having a private deck for the motel room, what we didn't like was the fact that there were fluorescent-type lights that stayed on outside the room until around 11pm or so. The lights give the place a very cheesy look and not a mountain retreat look, and you can't control the light outside your room.||||The pool on the lake side of the property was nice, very clean, had tables/umbrellas/chairs and some toys, but it's located right by Route 9 so you have traffic going by all the time and it reminded us of the hotels down by the junction in Lake George where the pools and rooms are right next to the road.||||We extended our stay to a full week (we were only staying for part of the week) so we were put in a room at the top of the mountain side of the resort. The room was lovely, and had a small kitchen in it, much nicer than the other room we had. There was an ample-sized deck with a table but we were at the very top of the hill and parking was a real chore. Same fluorescent-type lighting out on the deck, too, which was shared with the adjoining room. The mountain side had its own pool but it was shaded sooner than the lower pool and smaller. There was a fire pit on the side of the pool but the lighting of the area at night was not conducive to sitting around it and didn't give it any country ambiance at all. Telling spooky stories wouldn't have the same affect with lights shining everywhere. ||||The game room was closed and they didn't plan on opening it, so the rainy day we had left nothing to do but go elsewhere. There used to be a washer/dryer on site, too, but no longer. No hair dryers, either. Too much of the place is black top, save for a small area on the hill down to the lake and the lake area. No pets.||||The hills on both sides of the property are prohibitive, so any one with mobility issues should do their homework.||||As I stated earlier, this is a mixed review because the management really did try to accommodate any requests that were made. There were people there that had been going to Flamingo for 37 years and they filled us in on the pros and cons (including the $$$ increase), and they plan to continue, but I should add that they had rooms with a view of the lake. And the week we were there they had a problem with Spectrum so TV was out for a few days. WiFi was terrible, too. ||||All in all, it's just not the right fit for us. We like to feel like we are in the country a little bit and looking out at parked cars all the time wasn't conducive at all. We made the best of it but will probably stay at another...

Read moreWhat a disappointment!||||We stayed in the Flamingo West side and were very disappointed with the poor condition of the unit. However, the biggest disappointment was the rudeness of the management and their complete lack of concern in us as guests and customers. ||Our unit was very old, with chipped paint, nails sticking out on the deck, broken interior door knobs, missing/broken screens, poorly working toilet, no toilet brush, missing refrigerator shelving, and not nearly enough dishes or cooking items for a family of 6 (which is the unit size we booked). We first called for more cups/glasses for 6 people and were brought just 1 coffee mug. We also had to call to have towels and toilet paper brought. We also called because their was no Wifi 90% of the time. We also called because the exterior trash cans were overflowing with trash all over the ground just past our front steps. The pool was shut down and after several visits trying to figure out when/if it would open, I spoke to a staff member who promised to call us when the pool was open again – but no one ever called. I spoke with cleaning and grounds staff and wrote up a list of all the needed repairs and issues. I even waited while a staff member called the manager and asked him to come to the unit – but he never called nor ever came by even one time during our stay to address these issues. ||||The worst day of our stay was the last one when I went to check out. I told the manager/owner about all the issues we had faced and he clearly knew about them as he mentioned them back to me. However he said that we had only let staff know on day 5 which apparently was in his mind too late into our 7 day stay to bother with resolving these issues or even talk to us. He also said he had received the call from his staff who asked him to come immediately while I waited, but he said he was too busy. He then effectively blamed me - the customer – for not making more of an effort to come to the office and beg for the needed repairs. I had called about so many issues and spoken to his staff so this was completely unfair of him and I believe I made more than enough effort to let management know about our issues. ||Note that our unit was the farthest away from the office and the Flamingo West units require you to cross a BUSY and dangerous highway to get to the office. I guess I was supposed to bring our 3 young children all the way down the hill and across that highway (not to mention the very step climb back up the hill when we returned) multiple times so I could meet him at his convenience in his office. After all my calls and speaking to multiple staff members who relayed our issues to him, we did not receive even a single contact from management to address our issues. And on the last day - instead of an apology for all the issues, we received criticism and blame ! ||||In talking to other guests and staff, the consensus was that the new owners clearly did not have the same customer focus as the previous owners. I cannot recommend the Flamingo to anyone based on the treatment by the new owners...
