We rented the 3 bedroom cottage sight unseen, just based on reviews. Very clean and reasonably priced and right on the riverfront is what my little group of college reunion gals were looking for. It was a bit of a gamble, but it really paid off! We stayed 3 nights and we were able to leisurely eat our breakfast, enjoy the view of the river, cook when we wanted to, eat out when we wanted to, come and go as we pleased. It was perfect. The cottages are exactly what the reviews say - dated but very clean. The cottages were apparently built around 1950 and then renovated in the 70's (lots of dark wood paneling). Our cottage appeared to have recent kitchen renovations that served us well. And we REALLY enjoyed the screened in porch. It had a 6 foot table that we put to constant use as a 2nd dining room! I was concerned that the one bathroom wouldn't be adequate for the 6 of us, but we managed. We also found a restroom up the hill by the pool that we used some(the pool was awesome!). The bedrooms were very small, and one badly needed some hooks as there was no place to hang things, but no biggy. If we could have changed any one thing - it would have been the overgrown brush between the cabin lawn and the water. It would have been nice to have that drastically reduced to improve the view of the river. We would have also enjoyed having our own firepit as there was just one common one for the 10 cabins in our area. And if we could give advice to future occupants - when the literature says bring your own toiletries - don't forget the toilet paper!!! One other unexpected plus: I have traveled all over this beautiful state and been in a lot of it's wilderness, but it was at Mils that I got my first good look and listen to a big bold Eagle soaring over us. Thanks to Max and his people for providing such a perfect place for our getaway! ps- no ac,...
Read moreWe stayed in the motel part the first night and the cottages for the next 2 nights. The motel rooms were nice a bit dated, but that added to the feel of Clayton. Rooms were clean and offered parking for our trucks and boats. The cottages were definitely dated reminded me of my grandparents' house. But again that just added to the whole experience. We were able to park two bass boats and our trucks right next to the end cottage and they had outlets to charge our rigs. Great ti.e there and I am looking forward to next year as we...
Read moreWe had a very pleasant stay here. They were very helpful and welcoming to us. The dock for the boat was built up so we could use it considering most people's dock were under water this year. I will certainly consider using this place again for our next visit up. On top of that we got the best seats in town on the front porch where we were for the Clayton's Fourth of July fireworks. Last time we were up we stayed in T.I . Park which we would never do again because all the owner cared about was the historic value...
