Overall, my stay at the AmericINN by Wyndham Dodgeville was decent and I would not recommend this hotel to other people.
The pros were; good breakfast (waffles, cereal, fruit, yogurt, mini muffins, bagels)-- regular food you would find at a hotel without COVID, with just a small amount of less food offered, the cleaning staff and front desk staff were very kind and friendly. They did a wonderful job greeting me and my party and engaging in conversation. The room was the size I expected (I booked one room with two different doors-- one with two couches and the other with a bed).
The cons were; ladybugs in the room (they came from the window and were in the hotel room throughout my stay), room was decently cleaned (not cleaned thoroughly), the inside of the room smelt like marijunana and the hallway, there were rude construction workers who were very loud, during the time they came to the hotel (between 5pm-- and 5am). The construction workers would stay in the parking lot from 5pm-9pm the first night I stayed and woke at 5:30am the next day, very loudly, and took about 30 minutes to leave. I called the front desk to state that the construction workers were very loud during "morning" and "late" night hours and how it was disrespectful to those who were sleeping-- and paid for the hotel. The front desk was very understanding and talked to the workers, however, they did not respond as nicely. They continued to be loud, until they left.
Personally, I think the police should have been called to deal with the manner. This seems like something that occurred more than one occasion.
Finally, there were staff members and other visitors at the hotel that did not wear a facemask. I could understand if they were eating, however, this was the majority of my stay that I noticed it. The confusing thing was that there was a sign that clearly said "guests and staff must wear a facemask while in the hotel, around others. I do wish that the hotel reinforced this to a greater degree.
I do understand that some of these concerns can be hard to manage (the ladybugs, visitors who are loud outside "quiet hours"), however, hotels should be held to high expectations for customers who are paying for a quality stay. Thank you kindly and...
Read moreMy overall stay was okay. Other than the complaints I made were not taken seriously. If you love smoking weed this hotel don’t care if you do I made a complaint about constantly smelling it in and outside of the building and that one of there employees were the culprit and that I didn’t want my kids around it. I don’t care if you do it but do it in your car or where it wouldn’t bother guest. My other complaint was a group hanging outside the hotel doors under the awning being loud at 2:47 in the morning and decided to take there fancy sports car and step on it making the sound echo through the whole hotel waking my kids. There were also construction workers that were out being loud under the awning several times. I would knock on the window to let them know they should quiet down. Some were respectful others took it as a joke and became louder.I told them I wasn’t paying full price for are stay. But they still tried to charge me for it. Even after their mistake at not charging us for the dogs or for full nights on are reservations when it wasn’t our fault for their mistake after they caught their mistake they wanted to charge us all the money that wasn’t charged to us. The cops were there on 3 times in one day over the same people and a man was arrested for destroying a room and the ambulance for an allergic reaction. 3rd time unsure why but it was always the same people being talked too. We also had to leave because what was a pet friendly hotel. now no longer allows pets. Their pool and hot tub were shut down by the health department due to violations. The only good part about are stay was good breakfast, house keeping was amazing and so friendly, My 2 by far favorite employees were the cleaning lady that did the lobby and cleaned the pool. Plus Kim she was absolutely amazing and both of them loved talking to the kiddos. The young man looked to be in his 20’s was also...
Read moreIf this were not ‘COVID-19’ times, my review would be much different. However, this hotel did not follow CDC or Wyndham recommendations – including enforcing the requirement of wearing masks in common spaces as indicated on the Wyndham website, the local AmericaInn Wyndham in Dodgeville hotel’s website, where I stayed, or as indicted on the sign at the entrance of the AmericaInn Wyndham in Dodgeville. When I entered, I noticed 3 guests without masks as well as the employee at the reception desk. Upon check-in I commented to the employee that they are required to wear masks and she said, “I am fine. I am behind the Plexiglass’. She also indicated that many of the guests are there long-term as construction workers and they do not want to wear masks. At that point another employee approached me (not behind the desk – in the lobby) and asked if he could help. He did not have a mask on and stopped less than 6 feet from me. He then went behind the Plexiglass and put on a mask. At that point the receptionist did as well. They told me that the County doesn’t require masks and I explained that that doesn’t matter as Wyndham does. They again said they can’t make people wear masks if they don’t want to. Over the course of my stay, when employees saw me coming I noticed they were quickly putting on a mask. When I saw 2 room guest room cleaning staff, only one wore a mask. The breakfast was not modified for COVID. They did not clean, even as people left tables. As I left the hotel after 2 nights I was asked how my stay was and I explained my experience…again….to the same individual. Over the course of my stay I saw employees, guests, and a delivery person all without masks. I write this negative review because anyone who cares about taking precautions during this pandemic will not feel safe staying at the AmericaInn Wyndham...
