I wouldn't stay here again. It's very, very overpriced for the quality of the rooms/amenities. For two adults, two nights, it was over $300.
First, the good. The outside is gorgeous, there's not much around so it's quiet outside, a nice bar and wonderful patio (Could use a bonfire pit though! that would have been perfect), and if you have kids (which I do not) there is plenty to keep them entertained. The front desk people were quite friendly and helpful.
Now, the bad. The Beds felt like wooden blocks with a cheap down pillow top trying to mask the hardness (it did not). It was also very creaky even when just sitting down to take my shoes off.
There's not only very limited WiFi (The only WiFi I found was in the lobby of the hotel, which doesn't extend very far, so you have to go to the lobby to use the internet), there is also NO CAT5/ETHERNET PLUG. This seems pretty basic. Holiday Inns have had those in every room for years now. And they're 1/3rd the price. This was a huge deal for me, as a student, who couldn't connect to my classes' websites to check/download/submit/participate/etc unless I went to the lobby.
The not good, but also maybe not all that bad: The lobby itself is loud as there are fountains and front desks and people and all that. This wasn't really an issue, but I was already flustered due to no internet so it probably made that worse.
The room itself was pretty standard. The floors were dirtier than most hotels I've stayed at (about 3-4 hotels a year or so). The TV was an old CRT (tube style, not the flat panel LCD or anything), which I didn't care much about, but to some that's a big deal. There wasn't a safe that I saw, but again, not really all that relevant to me.
Overall, while it wasn't the worst hotel I've been to (that was a dingy super 8 in North Carolina) I would certainly look elsewhere for my first, second and third choices were I to visit Taliesin/House on...
Read moreThe experience was pretty good, we really liked their pool and the room was great. However, a bunch of the experience was ruined when my fiancé accidentally left a pair of her small post earrings in the room. When they called to let us know, we were an hour away from the inn and on the way home. When we told them this they said “Well... what do you want us to do with them then?” (Pam is who we talked to, she was extremely condescending to us whenever we encountered her). We asked them if they could mail the earrings back to us. They said they could but that they would need a credit card in order to charge us for the shipping. First off, never in my life have I had a hotel charge me for shipping something back to me that I left. ESPECIALLY a small pair of earrings. But whatever, we gave her our card number expecting them to be financially responsible with our money in how they shipped this small pair of earrings. But apparently that was too much to ask. Instead of picking up a 50cent padded envelope from Target or Walmart (I feel like they should have these lying around, how many times do they have to shop small items back to people?!) they used a priority mail BOX, not envelope BOX and charged us over $7. I’ve mailed larger items further away for cheaper (with insurance!!) Essentially they’ve tarnished the good experience I had at their hotel (with the exception of every time we talked to Pam, which wasn’t very much). We would have understood $4 for the shipping, but $7 is just irresponsibility on their part. It would have cost us less money To turn around and drive the hour back to the hotel to get the earrings. So disappointed in this hotel. Sucks that such a little thing can ruin your experience. Never...
Read moreWe stayed here on on a road trip when we decided to visit the House on the Rock. This hotel is very near the actual house, so was very convenient. It was also the only reasonably priced hotel in the area that was not a drive-up motel, which I hate having to stay at.
Yes, the hotel has dated equipment. The furniture are older styles, and the TV is an older CRT, but you didn't make the trip out here to watch TV right?
The hotel itself is large, with a spacious entry area, wide hallways, and all interior rooms. Rooms were adequately large, and very clean. Everything was in good working order. There is also a nice bar on premise that was open late.
We also LOVED the pool! It had a really cool submarine structure in a shallow pool that's great for kids (though we're 30 and thoroughly enjoyed it). It has all kinds of hoses dripping or leaking water simulating a crashed submarine. There was also some rock structures with other decorations. Of course they also had a deeper normal indoor pool, in addition to an outdoor pool.
For the price we paid, especially relative to all the "rip offs" in the Wisconsin Dells area, I was extremely pleased with our stay and if I was in the area again I would not hesitate...
