We recently stayed here for a family getaway and were drawn in by the incredible lakefront location and the cool, stylish look of the cottages. The setting really is beautiful — peaceful, scenic, and perfect for disconnecting. When we arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming, and it’s clear the owners have invested a lot into building something unique. That said, for $800 a night, we expected a more consistent level of service and a product that truly reflects the price point. While the cottages look great, they’re quite cramped. The spiral staircase to the second bedroom is extremely narrow and challenging for adults or older kids to use. The bathroom is also very small, with almost no space for toiletries — we had to store ours in the living room.
A major issue is the resort’s location directly against three active train tracks. Trains pass through at all hours of the night, and it’s loud enough to wake you multiple times. This really takes away from the otherwise tranquil setting.
One frustrating detail was the lack of clarity on their website around fees. It states there’s a $50 charge for early or late check-in, and even lists pricing for use of the hot tub and sauna. We found this off-putting, especially at this price point. It wasn’t until check-in that we were told those amenities are actually complimentary for hotel guests. That kind of confusion creates a poor first impression and makes the stay feel overly transactional.
We also had dinner on-site the first night. Service was very slow — possibly due to a private event upstairs — and while the food was okay, it didn’t match the setting or price. The food served lakeside the next day really missed the mark. The sushi we ordered for our kids was unexpectedly spicy, with no warning on the menu, and they couldn’t eat it. We were offered two complimentary drinks. We were not offered an alternative lunch item. We ended up ordering the chicken skewers because our kids were hungry, and they were extremely dry and disappointing.
Even the lakefront relaxation setup could use improvement. The chaise lounges provided are made of solid wood and look nice, but they are extremely uncomfortable. They also aren't practical for use in the sand — every time we sat on them, they tipped or sank, making it difficult to relax. A more functional and comfortable setup would go a long way in enhancing the guest experience.
There’s definitely potential here — the location is stunning and the vision is interesting — but for the price, the overall experience needs work. At $800 a night, you...
Read moreI want to be clear this is a review not of the accommodations themselves but of the on-site restaurant and sauna booking experience. My husband and I were staying in Silver Creek for an event and were happy to come across Hideaway when looking for lunch options. We had a lovely lunch at their on-site restaurant Drift. The decor inside is adorable and thoughtful. Service was slow (about 45min to receive our food after ordering), but the staff were very kind. We saw they had an onsite sauna booking option available to non-guests. It looked so relaxing with a gorgeous view of the lake. After lunch we immediately booked and prepaid through their website as prompted by the staff for the next morning at 9am. Unfortunately, when we arrived for our booking the next day, the sauna was off and no one was on-site to help us. We called all numbers from the booking page and resort itself and weren’t able to reach anyone. We waited around for 30min and then had to head out due to time restraints. We received a call as we were leaving that there had been a mixup with our booking and we were offered to come back, but unfortunately we didn’t have time at this point as the sauna takes 30min to heat up. We instead opted for a refund. I understand mistakes happen, but we were definitely a little bummed out, as we wanted to treat ourselves after a long road trip. This resort seems like it feels a need in the area for boutique accommodation and has the aesthetic chops to prove it. But as a new resort, maybe it’s still working out some organizational kinks with bookings and service. Can’t envision I’ll ever be back in Silver Creek to give it another shot but I do wish...
Read moreWe rented a day Cabana for $500 which included a $200 food and beverage credit for a girls 50th Birthday celebration. Many do not realize you can stay for the day and not overnight....eat at restaurant, etc. The hours to use were 11AM to 5PM. Pros: nothing like it in WNY. Beach Service includes all beverages and small but aok menu. Food was average to average+. Cons: Drinks took FOREVER and service overall for cabana was incredibly slow. We had a party of 8 and it took nearly 50 minutes for each of us to get a drink, which came out basically one at a time. Resort really needs to address this if they want to be known as 'luxury' as marketed. The inside restaurant is beautifully decorated and the guy behind the bar was kind and attentive [we ordered food at the bar instead of a cabana service, basically to just escape the 92 degree heat for a little while]. The beach itself is OK, little rocky and some seaweed, typical for lake erie. Owners need to address lack of foot-wash station outside. Everyone dragging crap inside the restaurant by not being able to clean off our feet beforehand. Overall they are on the right path, and its nice to have something like this available in WNY. But $500 for six hours [8 people] with a couch and sunshade and crappy service will be hard for me to return. I pay that much in Orlando for Cabanas with full three sided walls, TVs, electric outlets and a fridge with complimentary water. Make some tweaks and we'll be back multiple times each summer and will spread the word with friends and family alike! Good luck to new owners and i really do hope...
