TOPS Friendly Markets — Local services in Town of Hanover

The only good thing you can say about this place is the floors are pretty clean, but even that is an inconvenience because every night when I'm there for some forgotten dinner item I have to dodge the guy with the floor buffer. You have to wait for service at the deli because the lady is on smoke break, then you watch her walk in the front door, around to the deli, not wash her hands, pick up a used pair of gloves off the table and ask what I'd like, "nothing now". The produce is never really of great quality and there are almost always fruit flies swarming. They never stock for the big weekly special buys, cashiers are always on their cell phones and not knowledgeable in the products they sell or ongoing sales. This is a small store and had the essentials. Since we are always traveling we need to stop wherever we can find parking space. They have a relatively small lot, but the store is not so big either. We thought prices were high compared to other places. We spent $68 on 2 bags of groceries & one bag was just chips! The staff we interacted with was great and the store was clean and well stocked. They have mostly basic items, but do have a bakery and deli as well as a pretty good sized meat department. We tried the BBQ roasted chicken from the deli which was really good. I am so proud of the great customer service they offered. Tops ran an ad for a beef family meal. They have been out of the lettuce that was featured in the ad due to the romaine being tainted. I called Dunkirk Tops to see if they had the lettuce I was looking for in this ad and each time was told no. I called this Tops and Donna on the phone said no they didn't have it, but she would substitute for this lettuce. So that is what we did. She honored the rain check and allowed us to get a different lettuce they did have. I was so ready for Tacos that night. Thank you. I will definitely keep this store in mind if I need...
