We stayed a second night in a different room and had the same great experience. There is a gravel driveway that also serves as a "hiking trail" which takes you to the top of the hill and through the wooded area at the top of the hill. Clean comfortable rooms, friendly efficient staff, great breakfast and relaxing overall feel. Fire pit was nice to have at night while enjoying a glass of wine and unwinding with friends.

UPDATE: We were anxious to get back to the Grist Iron Lodge and the area which we really enjoy. We spent (2) nights across (2) different room types. The first night was in room (5). We noticed a noise in the room like someone was filling a bathtub the floor above. We later came to find they have ambient noise machines to help mask noise from adjacent rooms, the street etc. It was a little loud and we came to find out the volume can be adjusted if it proves troublesome for you (HINT - ask the staff).

The next night we stayed in the King Suite room 8 which is great. It comes at a premium cost, but is a nice value for the added amenities. These include a much larger footprint, seating area, fireplace, tub (in addition to the shower) etc. We checked out the two bedroom three bed suite (no lake view - but great for families). It has (2) queens (side by side) and just down the hallway (same level) is another separate bedroom with a queen. It is upstairs, but for some this may be a nice fit. There is still a view of the surrounding landscape and firepit area.

The staff is always great and the lite breakfast is tasty. I always enjoy the waffles with fresh fruit. There a bagels, juice, cereal etc. as well. Lorraine who was working the front desk both nights was pleasant and knowledgeable. Heidi and her staff make your stay amazing. They do offer specials, depending on the time of year (example currently a great deal on an early week (2) night stay. Great sunsets from here too!!!

UPDATE: We returned for what is becoming an annual visit to Grist Iron Lodge. They do such a great job considering its size. Easy check-in, great communication, friendly staff, nice amenities (again given it's size) etc. They put thought in everything they do. It's located in such a great area too, with so many great wineries, distilleries, breweries and restaurants in the general area. Watkins Glen is not too far either.

UPDATE OCT 2025: A dog park and disc golf course have been added to further enhance your stay at Grist iron Lodge. The same staff were still there as previous visits and the places maintains it's charm. It's still one of our favorite places in the area. Great location, clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast etc. Sadly the fire pit was not able to be used because of the burn ban, but other than that it was a great visit again. Looking forward to...

My first time ever staying at The Lodge at Grist Iron Brewing Co. I wasn't sure where to check in so I stopped a young maintenance worker and asked. He stated, "I'll go down and let her know. She's cleaning a room at the guest house." Literally less than a minute later she met me at the entrance of The Lodge. Extremely polite and very knowledgeable of the Hector area and more. I could clearly tell she wore many hats and was quite busy by the sweat on her forehead. (I greatly apologize for not remembering her name.) She quickly checked me in with great patience, gave me a Grist Iron Brewery pint glass and two (what look like poker chips that could be used at the Brewery for exactly what, I'm not sure) and walked me to my room. She showed me the room and patiently explained the amenities that were available like the Continental breakfast served every morning. Continental breakfast is an understatement. This is an included breakfast with everyones stay at The Lodge. The next morning I walked into the common area lounge and was pleasantly surprised by the numerous high quality breakfast items they provide every morning and the common area lounge is so beautifully designed for comfort and relaxation along with the mesmerizing views of Seneca Lake through the massive floor to ceiling windows (and you can also go out on the balcony to eat your awesome breakfast, snacks, coffee or tea) it was impossible not to sit down, breath deeply and relax. Everything in my room was so very comfortable. The employees I had contact with were very professional and extremely kind, which is something I'm not use to being born and raised in Washington DC.

FYI: I was in Hector NY last week to attend a Celebration of Life that Scotts brother (Dave Signori orchestrates every year) for my very best friend Scott Signori, owner, creator and Chef of Stonecat Cafe who passed away a year and a half ago from brain cancer. It's always an extremely emotional time for me and all of Scotts friends and while no one at The Lodge knew who I was or why I was there, they always treated me with the upmost respect as they do with every guest.

To the staff of The Lodge at Grist Iron Brewing Co. I thank you so very much for making a very stressful and sad time for me so much more pleasant.

We recently stayed at The Lodge at Grist Iron Brewery for a weekend getaway with our greyhound. We stayed in one of their dog-friendly King bedrooms, which was perfect for us and our furry friend. The room was clean, spacious, and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed, a large bathroom, and a private balcony overlooking the Seneca Lake. The fridge was stocked with Grist Iron Brewery's beer, as well as water and soda.

We opted for the date night in package, which included a bottle of local Finger Lakes wine and a delicious charcuterie board waiting for us upon arrival. This was a perfect way to start our weekend getaway!

The brewery is a short walk from the lodge, and it was a great place to relax and enjoy a beer after a long day of exploring the Finger Lakes. They had live music on the night we visited, and the food was also very good.

We were very impressed with the hospitality and attention to detail at The Lodge at Grist Iron Brewery. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at The Lodge at Grist Iron Brewery. It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the Finger Lakes region. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay.

Pros:

Dog-friendly Clean and spacious rooms Well-appointed rooms with private balconies overlooking Seneca Lake Fridge stocked with Grist Iron Brewery's beer, as well as water and soda Date night in package with local Finger Lakes wine and charcuterie board Brewery on-site with live music and good food Friendly and helpful staff Attention to detail

Cons:

None!
