Gillhouse — Hotel in Town of Henderson

The food was mediocre. The waitress was lovely. The setting is beautiful. The calamari steak was good. The salad was a nice size. The broiled haddock lacked flavor and was drenched with butter and I could not eat it. The side of candied carrots tasted like they were cooked in chlorine and were inedible. The lemon drop martini was mediocre and tasted like lemon juice and water.

The band, bless their souls, was so off key that they were hard to tolerate.

The restaurant is apparently “dog friendly” and a couple next to us had a dog that barked through most of our dinner. The owner kept taking the dog for a walk, but kept bringing it back to the table where it would start barking again. Dog owners should not bring an uncontrollable dog to a restaurant where people are paying $50+ per person.

The GillHouse is amazing!!! Went on a little road trip from Syracuse today and only about an hour drive. The view was amazing, the service was great & attentive. But the food was outstanding! I got the salmon and it was cooked so perfectly. Also pictured is the philly steak and linguine with vodka sauce. They are not fully operating yet but plan on being open within the next 3 weeks. Attached to the restaurant is an Inn with more great views. I cannot wait to come back and try...

Had a 7:30 reservation on Monday night to celebrate our 26th anniversary. We were seated a few minutes early. Got our water and menu's immediately. Then at about 8:05 we decided that if we were going to eat we would have to hurry to Watertown. After we got our water were never talked to again. I hope this was just a bad night and not the norm.
