Two major perks; breakfast and gym.
It was the best breakfast I've had in a Best Western. We do low carb and it gets boring often at breakfast time with forever scrambled eggs and sausage but they had also warm CHEESE SAUCE in a hot dish! And cheese slices in the fridge! And great quality salsa in the little containers! (I hate those messy bowls with watery salsa in them, these individually packed ones were super fresh, thick and tasty) The best part was that eggs came in patties that morning, so I was able to build a no-carb egg-burger with eggs being the buns and cheese in the middle, topped with cheese sauce and salsa. I loved it so much! Just to relay what I OVERHEARD was that sausages didn't appeal to people and those who didn't get real innovative with the egg patties found them rubbery. Not me though! Oh and there was real cut up fruit in the fridge! I didn't have any but that's just a great touch. Lots of gluten free choices. I LOVE THEIR BREAKFAST! (P.S another thing I can't stop admiring was Starbucks keurig coffee in rooms and real half and half, not the awful powdered creamer. It was lovely!)
Gym: they're located next to the high school that has a state of the art community gym and you can use it just by mentioning you stay at the hotel. There's a brand new indoor track! I ran a few laps just because. The gym itself has like a hundred sparkly new equipment, big TV's on the walls, air conditioned niceness and it's so clean. I was the only one there that morning . It was a pleasure. Then I walked out and showered in the hotel room.
My holiday had some drawbacks elsewhere but this...
Read moreThe hotel itself is clean and nice. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. When I first arrived the man at the front counter was on the phone for ten minutes and never acknowledged I was alive. Then a lady came up and checked me in. I used a debit card to reserve the room but they have a sign encouraging you to use a credit card, so I gave her my credit card. This seemed to upset her, but we got through it. On the second day of our stay my son locked both hotel room keys in our room. I went to get new keys. The same lady who checked me in was working the counter. I stated my son left our keys in our room, so I needed new keys. I felt this was pretty straight forward, but she started talking about how he was trying to get into other rooms with our keys. Ummm what? I was so confused. It was a struggle but I got a new key. Onto day 3, we had an early morning hockey game. We went to the game and returned to the hotel only to discover our key didn’t work. Other families had the same issue. We went to the front desk, other families were just given a new key. Come my turn and this same girl started to say my key wasn’t working because my kid used it to try and get into other rooms. 1. I don’t get where this theory is coming from 2. My son was at the rink playing hockey 3. after he locked the keys on our room the day before he was never given another key. I left annoyed and offended. I’d like to say I’ll never return but I’ll likely be forced to stay again for another...

For starters, I have absolutely terrible allergies, so the fact that this hotel does not allow pets inside is a god-send. They also don't have any feather pillows, which is also amazing! I know the hotel not being pet friendly may be a deal breaker for some, but for me not having to stay in a room with dog dander in it, and not having an allergic reaction to feather pillows is wonderful.
The rooms are all very clean, not a single bug to be found anywhere (and I check almost everywhere), the bathroom is very clean, and looks like it was updated somewhat recently, the car park was plowed and salted, and the TV and wifi are great.
The hotel staff are very pleasant to work with, the breakfast service is great, the fruit was super fresh and the coffee was well above average for hotel coffee, and they have a small in-hotel shop to get snacks and stuff from.
My only complaint for this hotel is the sink drain. The sink drain had a horrible odor coming from it, to the point at first I wasn't sure if sewage was backing up somewhere. But I was able to find the problem. The plumber for the hotel used P-traps instead of S-traps on the sink drains. The solution I got was to close the sink drain, and fill the sink with an inch or two of water, and that completely...
