There are only a few things I look for when staying in a motel (as opposed to a hotel which has a slightly different criteria) -- 1. cleanliness; 2. price; 3. location. The Chamber Lane Motel fit these criteria and though I only stayed one night, I was happy with my stay. I stayed in #14 which is the Queen Cabin (so I can't write about their regular rooms). No one was staying on the other side of the cabin so there was no noise issue as other reviewers have commented.||||Staying in the Saratoga Springs area in the summertime -- and especially during racing season -- it can be quite challenging to find a reasonably priced room. All hotels in the area begin at about $200/night, so while the price at $115 is higher than what I usually pay for a motel, it was worth it since it fit my three major needs as stated above and this was the in-season cost. ||||I arrived at a VERY unusually hot summer day in the middle of an extended heatwave with temps in the mid-90s and real-feel temps over 100 degrees. I was concerned about my belongings being in a hot car until check-in time. I mentioned this to Laura and she was more than accommodating. My cabin was prepared for an early check-in and I was able to move in easily and get over to the Markets at Round Lake which was right down the road. The room was very clean and I was grateful for the window air conditioner which appeared to be a newer model and worked well to reach the designated temperature fairly quickly. ||||The room includes a microwave and small refrigerator in a small alcove off the room. There is free wi-fi and the flat screen television (with an extensive cable channel selection) is mounted on the wall at the foot of the bed. The queen-size bed is pushed up against the wall in a corner so there is only one side (or the end) to exit the bed which could be awkward if there were two persons staying. There is also an numerous selection of different types of pillows as everyone has different preferences. The bed is a bit softer than I prefer but adequate. Additionally there is a dresser, night table, chair and a small table with bench as a desk. It is a compact room and while comfortable for one person, it was still a bit of a challenge to figure out where to put my suitcase and belongings. ||||The bathroom has a shower/tub combination and the water pressure was adequate and I had plenty of hot water that afternoon. The sink however is the kind with a separate faucet for the hot and cold taps -- this could prove a challenge for those who have never dealt with these faucets with temperature extremes. There were plenty of towels and washcloths and soap. The light switch is on the outside of the bathroom. ||||The grounds were lovely to look at but it was just too hot and humid to fully enjoy. There is a table with umbrella and four chairs immediately outside the cabin, and in the near distance a pretty sitting area with a garden and charcoal grill. Parking was not a problem and fairly close to the cabin. ||||As for location, it was 5 minutes from the Markets at Round Lake, and about 20 minutes to Ballston Spa and approximately 30 minutes to Saratoga Springs. There is a nice selection of information in the office for area attractions and Laura goes out of her way to be helpful and accommodating to one's needs. I would definitely return...
Read moreIf you are a child of the '60s and remember family vacations at seaside motels then this place will be a huge blast from the past for you. There's no hot tub or chlorine filled swimming pool, no gym or spa. What you will find at the Chamber Lane Motel is beautifully kept grounds with umbrellaed picnic tables scattered across the lawn and a view of Round Lake from your front door. The public boat launch is nearly across the street from the place and all of the main shops in Malta are just 5 minutes away. It's exactly what I was looking for and at a ridiculously reasonable price. Just a basic comfortable cozy room with everything you need. This vintage motel and cabins are family owned, and they live right on site, so anything you need is taken care of immediately. They went out of their way to juggle rooms over a big concert weekend in order to accommodate my...
Read moreYes, this is an older property, and the proprietor is not hiding this fact. This property was nicely priced for the area. This is a rustic cottage/cabin atmosphere. Some parts of it are dated, but here is what makes this place great. Incredibly clean rooms. Clean sheets and bedding. Mattresses are pillow top and very comfortable. My room had windows in the front and back, and I got a great breeze coming through. The television system is also much better than I find at some large hotel chains. Bathroom is small, but the most important part.....It's immaculate. This is a small family run hotel, and although a few things here and there could be updated, the family takes pride in offering a value priced stay in a clean and comfortable room. Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely stay here again, and would love to try one of the small cabin...
