Having recently wrapped up an overnight stay at the motel, this location does not warrant the 4.3 star ranking it has on Google... In short, while it wasn't the worst experience I've ever had, it definitely ranks as one of the more unpleasant stays I've had so far in my life...
The good:
Staying with my wife in one of the recently renovated rooms, the decor wasn't bad, and the bathroom was decent.
The shower is the one redeeming feature about the room, I appreciated its ability to give you control over both the temperature and volume of water being provided, good set up overall for that.
The bad:
As a bigger guy myself, the standard size toilet was functional but a bit uncomfortable to use.
Similar to the comment above, the bed was also not large enough to sleep both my wife and myself comfortably. While we managed to make it work, and it wasn't bad in terms of comfort, it was not something I would want to do again.
The bathroom door would not close properly, it needed to be forced close to get it to seat properly.
It is a minor issue, but there are no hooks in the room we stayed in. Not for the bathroom, not for the bedroom, nothing. We ended up using the window curtain bar as a makeshift hanger rod, putting our wet towels there for lack of a better solution. (Quick edit on this one, I talked with my wife, and there was a hook after all - scratch this comment!)
The exhaust fan was a combination heater / exhaust style, generating heat when the shower was also running, which wasn't great.
The ugly:
While checking out several rooms that were procured for our family, at least one of them had a strong smell present, likely from someone smoking marijuana there before we arrived.
At least two of the rooms had dead flies scattered across the floor. The room I stayed in had at least two visible, while another family member has no less than about a 6-10 present as we walked into the room.
The floors in my room were sticky, when walking across the floor it felt like a substance was adhering to my feet.
Last but not least, there seemed to be an electrical issue with the space's wiring. As a CPAP user, my machine was experiencing and under-voltage issue, where it did not have proper 120V coming in from the outlets. I plugged it into multiple outlets directly to check, and it was a consistent problem. This resulted in my getting about 5 hours of rough sleep after a long day, and left me waking up with a very sore throat and audible wheeze.
Edit: Forgot to mention, also woke up and vomited after drinking some water to hydrate... Not sure if it is unrated to the room, a problem with the local water system, or if something is off with the room's water supply. I'd recommend bringing your own water just...
Read moreWhile browsing for a new residence in and around the Marathon, NY area, I have visited the Three Bear Inn on two separate occasions.
On both occasions I was greeted with a warm "Small Town" welcoming. Suzanne definitely wakes up each morning realizing the fact that she is Awesome!! Ever so Friendly and Personable!
If looking for a place to enjoy a delicious cocktail or fermented beverage, within a more than affordable price range, the Three Bear Inn is an excellent choice for Cortland County. Not to mention a fantastic array of menu items to tame a hungry belly.
Conveniently located a short stroll through the parking lot, is the Inn itself. Whether passing through town on a road trip or perhaps experiencing for yourself one of the magnificent experiences had here at Three Bear Inn, a room could be available to you in a moment's notice.

Read moreAlthough we did not stay in the hotel we stopped for dinner and it was such a great meal. To start we had their boneless wings with chipotle, and with the first bite I could tell that the sauce was homemade and it was delicious. For main course we had their fisherman's platter with haddock, scallops, shrimp, and a homemade crab cake grilled or fried. We had grilled and it was amazing everything had great seasonings. We also got their bacon cheese burger which had great flavor and had a bit of a charred flavor which only added to the great taste. To end the night we got their chocolate brownie sundae which was also amazing, the brownies tasted like they were just made. Before we left we had to ask for another order of their wings to go because of how amazing their homemade sauce was. I'm sure that you wont regret getting anything on their menu as everything...
