Blue Lake Resort — Hotel in Town of Minoqua

I was looking for a little Family Resort out of the way and that's just what I got. I corresponded with the Owner through E-Mail and was able to get a reservation in Cabin #1 for 4 nights. I got into the resort around midday and the owners friend was there to greet me and she gave me a tour of the Cabin. After unloading my gear I took a nice quiet nap. The furnishings were great, the couches were new and super comfy. I was able to get some books read and some great naps in as well. A cozy little kitchen and outdoor grill were provided. everything was spotless. The oven and gas range were brand new and had all cooking utensils provided. The cabin also featured a screened in porch with dining table and chairs. This was a really great one bedroom cabin. Perfect for a solo traveler or couple. The owner was real friendly and stopped by the second day to chat, she let me know I could take the kayaks out free of charge and filled me in on the history of the place. Her Grandfather built the place over a hundred years ago it's still going strong. She let me know that in the offseason it's nice and quiet and in the summer it's abound with sounds of fun. Our fishing group thought we had finally found our ideal fishing lake. Great lake, great fishing, great resort, and friendly owner. However, after fishing this lake for about 5 years, we noticed that the Northern population had increased significantly. Initially there was never a problem, but we dealt with it. The last year we were there (fall 2024), while we were fishing, we spoke with residents on the lake, and they had noticed it, as well. They wanted them. cleaned out. We paid our deposit for 2025 and everything was fine. In early 2025, I was contacted by the owner, who said she was canceling our reservation, and returning our deposit. When asked why, she said that there had been complaints of a decrease in the fish population, and that we were "too good of fishermen". We NEVER over fished, or took more than any limit. We also did not take all of the giant crappie that we could have. Even if we were to be invited back, we would not return. There is a Northern problem with the lake. So, if you want to go, go. If you are looking for a vacation place to party with WI fi, TV, a bar, loud music, noisy neighbors, lousy fishing, THEN YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO TO BLUE LAKE RESORT AT MINOCQUA ! But if you want cozy clean cabins on the lake with a boat and private dock, peace and quiet, Excellent fishing bass, northern pike, large blue gills and crappies, , beautiful sunsets, and a place to relax, and reasonable rates, GO TO BLUE LAKE RESORT FOR A WEEK! It will be the best vacation ever. it is not an average hotel room, but a fully furnished cabin where you can cook your own meals, sit out on the screen porch or deck or on the lake shore and enjoy the beautiful view.
