We stayed here at the beginning of June. The campground is primarily for seasonal campers, but many of the seasonals had nice lots, with very few being run down. The area for the short-term guests was in an open field, and it looked like there was decent space between sites. The campground was quiet the first weekend in June, and when the seasonals went home for the week, it was really quiet. They did have an inexpensive honey wagon for emptying waste if needed, $20. The showers were clean but very small. The pool was open with heated water. We ordered the available Wi-Fi but could never connect, even after contacting the company (big disappointment). We still got charged, though. Tranquil Timbers was a great home base, but we spent much of our time sightseeing, hiking, kayaking, fishing, and eating at local establishments. See Tips & advice. We camped at Tranquil Timbers Camping Resort in a Motorhome.
One of the things we loved about this campground is its short walking distance to Waterfront Mary's. We went to WM for their fish boil one night. They use cod instead of whitefish, and it was a great experience. Mike had great stories about the fish boil experience. We ate there another night and had their cod dinner, fish and chips, and the best chowder. I even got a bowl to take home. It was so good.
-Get the wine trail map and have fun exploring the different wineries in Door County. We visited Egg Harbor (Stone's Throw Winery & Lautenbach's Orchard Country) and Baileys Landing (Lake Fire).
-Stone Harbor Restaurant. Good-crusted Walleye and live bans on the patio overlooking the harbor bridge. -Shipwrecked Brew Pub for their meatloaf and then stopped over to the rooftop at the Mezzanine for the sunset over the harbor. -Kayaking at Cave Point and Potawatomi State Park. -Fishing for smallmouth bass out of Sister Bay & Ellison Bay Great week up here in...
Read moreThe location, facilities and staff were all up to my expectations. The reason for my less than terrific review is due to the poor service I received for their paid internet service. I was there for two weeks. However, the monthly rate of $35 per month was less than the rate for two weeks. My biggest complaint is that despite the fact that I paid extra for the 10mbs speed, I rarely received over 1mbs. 50% of the time i had no signal at all. I was less than 20 feet from an access point, so that was not the issue. I opened multiple tickets with the provider, and was told that they were working on the issue, but nothing was ever fixed.
To add to my frustration, today I received notice from the provider that they were trying to charge my credit card for an additional month, despite that I specifically asked at sign up that i not be re billed and also set my account to show no re billing.
I realize that the campground is not responsible for a third party provider, but if you are going to advertise internet access, then the access should be provided.
I have no problems with the campground itself, but be warned. DO NOT sign up for internet access. Also be warned that a Verizon Mifi is useless here as well. Even with a Weboost antennae, I could not...
Read moreWas given a warning that our kids were too loud in the morning during quiet time (before 8am), however, they were only talking outside out camper. They were not yelling or screaming AT ALL! We have never had a complaint at any other campground we have been at at we camp every weekend in the summer. When a family member talked to management about the disappointment and wondering what was said, she was told that they had several complaints that the kids were being loud. Management also asked about the "party" we had the night before and how we were loud... We were not having a "party", we had 6 adults around the campfire talking and were to bed by quiet time (11pm). When realizing that the conversation was going nowhere, we informed management that we would not be back. When walking out of the office, we overheard management say "The hell with her". Not professional! Not family friendly! Word to the wise - go...
