Had such a wonderful experience here! My boyfriend and I live nearby, and we wanted to do something spooky for the Halloween season, so we decided to stay here for some ghost hunting and goat petting. When we arrived onto the property, we were immediately greeted by Esther the cat and big Archie. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, and Marnie showed us around the property and even allowed us to go in with the goats and feed them some crackers, which they loved. When we went inside, Bill had showed us the ghost hunting equipment and how to operate it, which was great, since we didn’t have any equipment of our own.
As for the paranormal… we stayed in the the Alpine room and did hear quite a few noises throughout the night but it was hard to decipher whether it was the animals, people staying in the other rooms, or really ghosts. None of the ghost equipment really detected anything during our stay. I will say though, that when I closed the bathroom door and was washing my face, it sounded as if someone had banged on the door one time, and I thought it may have been my bf, so I opened the door and asked him if he was messing with the door but he was laying in bed and said it wasn’t him. I just figured that the door shifted because it was uneven, but we never heard it again, even though we closed that same door multiple times.
I also want to mention that the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash smelled absolutely amazing, and I would love to know what it is so I can purchase it myself lol. When we were about to leave in the morning, a nice lady (I think the cleaning lady?) made sure that we got to take some of the amazing cinnamon rolls home before we left. And lastly the best part of our stay was being able to hang out with Larry. He is definitely one of a kind. We let him into our room at night and he was very fixated on something in the wall and kept pouncing at the floorboards for about 20min but nothing was there that we could see or hear. Maybe Larry conjured up the ghost of a mouse.
Overall we really loved the place and highly recommended...
Read moreWe came for the goats and the ghost hunting and discovered so much more to love about this place. The house is beautiful. Lots of antique furniture and artwork. We met the famous Larry the Cat! He showed us to our room in the Fainting Room. He hung out with us and we called him our tour guide. There are journals in each room where guests write about their experiences and we spent lots of time reading each experience. One group in particular called themselves witches and left a satanic spell in the journal which really scared the heck out of us! Bill and Marnie were wonderful hosts! So inviting and very easy to talk to we really enjoyed our time with them learning about the house, past guest experiences, and local history. In all of our travels I can confidently say Bill and Marnie have been the best hosts we have ever had! We also got to try their world famous cinnamon rolls! Holy cow I could just eat the dough plain it was so good! The ghost experience was really funny. We used the Estes method to communicate. We were getting responses in the Fainting Room. It didn't identify itself. But it told us it didn't want to talk to us and it demanded that we bring Larry back into the room. Apparently the spirits really love Larry and wouldn't talk to us unless he was with us. We got the word "Satan" that came through in the room where the witches wrote their spell which I thought was a weird coincidence. We had doors close on their own. And my poor wife is a light sleeper and kept hearing knocks, taps and squeaks all night. I slept like a baby in their amazingly comfortable bed. The mattress and bedding was so soft! I toss and turn when I'm in my own bed, here I fell asleep at the drop of a hat. We got to feed the goats in the morning. Miles lived up to his reputation lol. He kept pushing the other goats out to steal all of our crackers. We really loved our experience and cannot wait to come back. We hear the summer is an awesome time to come out to check out the island and cross the stream in the back. There are ducks, geese, and even...
Read moreThe first thing we noticed was how warm and welcoming Marnie is. She is so pleasant and makes you feel so welcome, we shared stories in the morning and I could just talk with her for hours. Such a wonderful person. Her partner Bill was also very warm and welcoming and they both did a dowsing rod demonstration with us and lent my fiance and I both a pair to use for the evening. The second thing was the beauty of the Inn. The furnishings and the restorations are stunning. The surrounding land is beautiful with an amazing river and island view and the added animals perfect it. We went into our stay with an open mind of if something happens cool if not thats cool too. We definitely had some odd occurrences but I wouldn't say it was anything off the charts. We didnt see any apparitions or have anything touch us. But definitely lots of noises and bumps in the night. Swore we heard a service bell ding once if not twice throughout the night but no where to make sense on where it came from. A knocking or tapping noise from the locked door in the closet, foot steps in the hallway but no one there, when trying to go to sleep had an overwhelming feeling of something being right in my face, fun stuff. We had a very interesting interaction with Jeeves in the bar area that made my hair stand and full body chills. Overall it was a great time, the perfect night away we needed. The property is beautiful, Marnie is incredible and serves homemade cinnamon rolls in the morning, they are delicious. The animals (dogs, pigs, goats and Larry the cat) are great, bed was comfy and we left with some stories to tell. I highly recommend! Thank you so much Marnie for your hospitality and an amazing stay. We really enjoyed it, wish we could have stayed another night. We will definitely be back. Until next time!...
