Caveat Emptor - Let the buyer beware!

This past April I went to Tireland USA for a new set of tires. I was given some options over the phone and had one particular (well-known, familiar) brand in mind, but when I arrived the guy showing me the tires - whom it turns out is the owner - convinced me to go with another brand because of its supposedly superior fuel efficiency rating. I paid $350 for a set of four tires and happily drove away. My happiness was short-lived, as I noticed almost immediately that my fuel economy dropped by about 5 mpg over my previous set of tires. However, I bit the bullet - the tires were already on the car and all else seemed well. THAT didn’t last.

Fast-forward six months. The tires I’d bought - warrantied for 55K miles - were BALD at 20K. Not just worn - BALD. Do you feel comfortable driving your children around on bald tires? Me neither.

I did a little research and learned some more stuff about tires - like that they’re stamped with a manufacture date. Turns out those “new” tires I bought in April 2017 were already more than four years old (manufactured February 2013) when they were installed on my vehicle. When I returned to Tireland USA with my old, bald, but still well-below-the-treadwear-warranty tires, rather than offer some type of reasonable compensation for the inferior product he sold me in April, the owner instead tried to sell me MORE tires. (When the owner asked what kind of tires I’d had on the car before those I’d bought from him, he disparaged them as terrible - even though they’d lasted far longer and provided greater fuel efficiency than what he’d sold me. Seriously? Also, did you know that it can take tires two whole years to make it over here when they’re manufactured in Asia? That’s what I’m told. I think they ship them by rowboat. But I digress…).

I was informed that the only compensation that I might be able to receive in exchange for the bald, crappy $350 tires I’d purchased six months before was a possible credit from the tire company to purchase more of their crappy tires. He made it sound like a big, onerous task and one not likely to be successful. Uh - no thanks. Did he sound surprised that the tires were bald at 20k? No. Did he offer me a prorated discount on different tires that he had in stock? Nope. I was informed that wasn’t an option. But of course it was an option. He’s the owner, after all. He chooses the products and he makes the rules. It just happens that the option might cut slightly into his profit margin. Lame.

I’m very disappointed that this locally-owned business doesn’t stand behind the products that they sell. They also don’t stand in front of them. You know why? Because if you stand in front of a car with bald tires, when it tries to stop chances are you’ll get your ass run over through no fault of the driver.

It was an expensive lesson, but needless to say I’ll never buy tires at Tireland USA again, and will spread the word about my unfortunate experience with this place. You’ve...

SKIP THIS PLACE unless you like, terrible customer service, disrespect, sitting around for hours on end, and overpaying for tires. Drove 45 mins to this place because I was told it was great back in the day. It was a Saturday and they were busy, so they said they wouldn’t be able to put tires on today, but we could pick them out. This didn’t upset me, I figured we’d leave the rims there, they could mount them, and we’d come back to get them put on the car next week. After we picked out tires we wanted, the salesmen said since the rims we brought hadn’t been on the car before, they would sneak our car in quickly to make sure they fit the car properly, then we could leave the rims and come back in a few days. We waited and waited and noticed our car hadn’t moved. After ~2 hrs waiting with my wife and infant son, we asked the manager when we could expect to have rims tested on the car. She said 3 hours…The salesman made it sound like this would be quick and easy. The manager could tell we were upset so when she brought us our car she said “my name is Carla, I’m the manager, call me before you come next Tuesday and I’ll make sure we have a bay open for you” and apologized. When I called back on Tuesday, she wouldn’t get on the phone with me and the other woman said it would be at least an hour wait. She said I have to talk to a Shelby.. even though Carla specifically said to call and ask for her. I said okay that’s fine and asked about the price of the tires because I found them significantly cheaper online.. the woman who picked up said there’s nothing they can do. Carla didn’t have the decency to get on the phone with me even though she had made a promise to me and my wife just a few days prior. Not sure how someone like that becomes a manager, probably nepotism. SKIP THIS PLACE, completely overrated. After purchasing the same Toyo tires online (on sale at Tire Agent) and cost for mounting, balancing, & disposal we still saved $73 and who knows how many hours...

You kno I really like the place just the work ethic isn't there. Employees can't wait to go home and it shows. They just ready to close. I drove from Elmira called and they knew I was coming and closed a hour earlier than posted. Another customer was out there with me and I wouldn't have cared except I was in an emergency situation and you guys left me out there. I caught 2 flat tires ause some idiot left a flat bar on the rode, 2 weeks after I had just bought all four brand new tires purchased at tireland. Firestone offers warranty on their tires. I could have got them replaced for free if I'd just got them their. Ok I know it's not they fault but mind you I was on my way to the hospital cause my pregnant wife was ready to go, when I got these flats. These people did not even care. In fact when I called just to ask if there was any warranty the lady was about to snap. I had to tell her it's OK I'm not complaining just asking and she still gave me an attitude. Same lady that also gave me a attitude when I asked what is the handle fee.. Lol. She said if I pay it, you pay it state charges. How about if we all taking accountability I get a discount cause I came all the way from Elmira called spoke to 2 people and they closed a hour earlier than they was supposed to knowing dang well I needed them tires. I spoke high to many people about this place til I seen they do not care about the customer. Guy drives you on his golf cart and gives you a speal about tires makes you feel like they care offers you a "good deal", sneaks in additional fees and acts like they did you a favor for some off brand tires that you can literally buy offline for cheaper. Anyway big disappointment hope you guys get it...
