For a vacation that almost didn't happen, ours couldn't have turned out any more perfectly! Hoping to book a long weekend on L.I.'s East End in the late summer, on a moment's notice, is no easy task but Susan, the manager and resident "salty" angel of the Jamesport Bay Suites was there to answer our prayers! Under Susan's loving & ever watchful eye, the "Suites" is extremely & efficiently well run. This North Fork property is very private, picturesque & clean. The beach is just steps from every door. A myriad of water activities and shell & sea glass hunting await you. There is a spacious lawn w/BBQs & lawn games aplenty. The vibe here is family friendly (actually, it's just plain friendly) and decidedly humble. The only "airs" here are the warm Peconic Bay breezes! Accessible to both Forks the Suites is minutes away from many great restaurants, farms & farmstands, wineries, breweries, markets and shops. For me, I like reading, short day excursions and quiet evening stargazing. Here, I happily win! The Custer Observatory in Southold is open on Sat. nights for free public viewing. They provide one of the darkest & most spectacular sky watching opportunities on L.I. Rather stay "home"? Every room on the property offers a front row seat to the most spectacular Long Island sunrises, sunsets and late evening star gazing you'll find anywhere, |One stay was all it took to make us lifers. We have been coming here for years and each year it gets better because of the care and attention of General Manager Susan, and her family and friends. Think of this place as your beachfront cottage where you can live in your bathing suit and flip flops all day playing in the sun, sand and water, and then have access to the fruits of the North Fork restaurant scene at night. Or stay in and cook out on the grills with a water view. Umbrellas, lounge chairs, paddle boards and kayaks, all available on the beach steps away from your room.
