Primarily I visited the Starlight simply to experience the motel. I am a mid-century modern enthusiast. For my birthday weekend I decided to treat myself so I could relax, unplug and recharge my batteries in a setting that has expertly captured my attention online for quite sometime now. There are some nice personal touches here. I appreciated the two fresh flower stems in the room, the retro pink bathroom, WiFi, fresh baked goods door drop each morning, the contactless check in and the covid protocols. I was disappointed with the prevalent road noise in room #2. The room smelled strongly of dog and was uncomfortable with no blinds on the bathroom window—I had to put a towel over the window for privacy since other guests were walking around on the back deck and could look right in. Understandably, it’s an older building but the large gaps around the doors literally sent a chilling breeze through the room. The evening temp was in the 20’s. The gaps are so large, when the leaves rustle outside on the walkway it sounds like they are scooting along the floor directly in the room. Running a business during a pandemic is certainly tough however, experiences and services still hold value. The $300 cost of this room doesn’t equate to a good value.

The starlite is an absolutely FAB motel/ getaway. If you’re looking for a stuck up, chain hotel vibe you won’t get it here. Instead, you get owners that actually run the place (and they remodeled it themselves!!), artistic and community-oriented products/ decor, and beautiful, serene vibes. My partner and I spent a couple nights at the Starlite with our little chihuahua Maya, and it couldn’t have been more of a breeze. The bed was perfect, the check was insanely easy, and even though it was 20 degrees outside we were warmed up by the heater (and we even braved the cold so we could go in the sauna!) If you like places that actually care about what they’re doing, mid century charm, and community you will love the starlite :)

We rented out the Starlite Motel for an entire weekend for ourselves and our wedding guests. The Starlite team was absolutely incredible to work with, there were so many thoughtful touches in the rooms and throughout the motel and everyone was so comfortable and had an amazing time. We loved the sauna and the pool, but the hospitality from the motel staff was our favorite part. Would recommend Starlite for anyone looking to have a relaxing weekend in the Catskills area or host an event in a unique and memorable location!

I had a nice time. It did feel a little bit like a motel that got a new paint job and a few new pillows and trendy decor and then the price went up. While I had an okay time, here are a few notes for people who may think about staying here: It's overpriced for what it is. I would look around in the area first before landing here.

They say they have a cantina, but along with anyone working there (seemed to come and go kinda whenever?), it felt like it just popped up whenever they decided? I was never sure if I would have access to any food/drink besides the popcorn in the room. It was open for a little bit on Friday and then never again during my stay. I stayed thru Sunday. Maybe it opened while I was at a wedding? It would just be nice to know when it would be open in general.

When I got there the fridge in my room was not fully plugged in so it was warm inside. They provide milk for coffee but my milk was warm.

I didn't have a car. And it was a food desert. I tried to get delivery from any place in the area that said they delivered but by the time I put in the address they all said, "Not in our delivery zone." So just know that if you do not have a way to get anywhere that you should pre-pack food or be ready to eat popcorn, coffee and muffins for 3 days. :)

The muffins left outside the rooms (At the picnic table) were delicious. 2 days of the same muffins was a lot of muffin! Again, these were incredible muffins. I guess I just assumed it would be something different the next day?

The pool is.... a small, buggy, motel pool. Besides throwing 2 floaty flamingos out there it was lacking in any sort of upkeep. They say something on the website about movies? Again, not clear when or how or what?

They mention other things like, fire pit and smores available to make during the evenings. Again, I never saw this happen. I did attend a wedding Saturday night so maybe I missed it? No signs of anything though.

No ice machine. Access to ice includes a cooler with bags of ice in it that everyone can just kinda scoop or dump out if there is any not melted.

My friends wanted to also stay here as they were attending the same wedding as me, but no one ever replied to their emails or called them back so they got a beautiful airbnb down the road. (Id find that airbnb before booking here.)

I'd say, they made a cool website with cool pictures of this place and the idea of it is cute and sweet. But the follow thru on some of the things was confusing.

I rarely write reviews, but after I got the bill for this I felt as though people should have some better info. The website seems to function mostly as a place to show instagram photos. The place seems to function like a roadside motel for 3x the cost.

Hope this helps!!!! :)

After reading other replies to other reviews I am hoping that my honest evaluation will not be replied to defensively. The place is what it is. It was cute! Maybe...

This place is so perfect that it’s almost magical. Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Starlite Motel for our Valentine’s Day weekend. This Valentine’s Day I decided to surprise him with a weekend trip since our Last Valentine’s Day we are both working . I wanted anything that would just make valentines day extra special especially during this pandemic. There isn’t much you could do. I found this place and it was perfect because it is kind of secluded so not too much contact with others. definitely Covid approved. The place has this retro vibe but also this high upscale vibe at the same time. I was blown away when seeing the photos. Honestly seeing it in person was even better. The scenery alone is absolutely stunning ! Visually it’s like living in an Instagram picture. the owner and the staff helped me so much in the planning of this whole thing. Although we could not go into the office when we checked in because of Covid. The staff were available by text with whatever we needed and then they would simply just drop it off at my door. They had a lot of precautions for Covid which I appreciated it made me feel very secure in my choice to stay there . If you do decide to go I recommend you go during the weekend...They provided us with the yummiest pastries. The pastries in combination with the slow brew coffee that you can make in your room it was my perfect idea of Heaven. I am vegan and I did tell them that prior to my stay and they made sure I had vegan pastries. Helping me out like was so sweet and accommodating. I will warn you there is no TV in the room but honestly you don’t need it! I mean if you’re in the area there’s so many things to do. Drive to different towns. The motel is only 20 mins away from new Paltz if you like a busier area ( we love New Paltz). We also went to some of the local breweries, took pictures with Gnome Chomsky and we went on a short hike to a waterfall. Honestly you can be as active or inactive as you like. If you find out you do need to watch something and relax just bring your laptop. Free WiFi is provided. We hope to come back either this spring or the summer,... just in time for the pool to open it up. I can’t wait to get in that pool LOL. If you are wondering if you should go there ... just go . You won’t be disappointed. if you hesitate to long someone will take your spot LOL. I know it happened to me and the staff was able to get us square away so we...

This place, the owners, the whole experience...I have only good things to say. Great things, actually. I've stayed here twice, and both times have been a top-notch experience.

The most recent time was on New Year's Eve, which happens to be my girlfriend's birthday. I asked one of the owners, Alix, if she would be so kind as to help me set up the room a little beforehand with presents and a cake if I brought them ahead of time. Without hesitation she offered to help out however I needed and asked for nothing in return. She absolutely went above and beyond for us...she really made our stay! She was also very attentive and communicative via text the whole time, leading up to and including our stay...she really makes it feel like you're the only one there. Plus, for New Year's, there were complimentary cocktails made from local bourbon left at our doorstep at checkin and a bonfire going all night, AND free local pastries left at our door the next morning! Good god, it was just the best.

It's just such a cool place to be. It's unbelievable what they accomplish with the beautiful aesthetics, the effortless hospitality, and just the laid-back feel of the place. The attention to detail the owners pay to everything, aesthetically and otherwise, plus how genuine and caring they are to their guests, is hard to even fathom. There's free Bjorn Qorn in the room, there's a Chemex and ground local coffee, there's phenomenal-smelling soap and shampoo. The rooms are beautiful and clean, the amenities are thoughtful and unique, and there's always a genuine feeling of comfort and relaxation.

Regarding COVID and all that, you really couldn't ask for more than how they manage things. The precautions they take are very thorough without being intrusive. They air the rooms out for two full days between guests, they do a contactless check-in, they provide hand sanitizer in the room, and everything else they provide is touch-free and thoughtfully sanitary. Masks are required anywhere on the grounds outside the rooms, and the indoor office area is closed to guests. It's the best and feels very safe.

My girlfriend and I are definitely lifers here. It's just an exceptional motel run by...
