I cannot in good faith recommend this place. We took our car here two years ago and had the front calipers and brake pads replaced, as well as some other work done, for about $1200. Within only TWO years, our calipers were leaking and our brake pads had far too much play/movement. The noise was terrible and, given the leak in particular, there were real safety risks. Fortunately, our new mechanic in Massachusetts caught these problems, including the stains on the calipers. We had no choice but to replace the calipers, brake pads, and rotors, which cost $600. (We had to replace the rotors because, as Velocity should have explained, rotors should generally be replaced with brake pads and calipers.)
Velocity initially refused to help cover any of the costs. They then suggested that we drive back to their shop to get the work done, despite the fact we live more than three hours away (and the danger of driving long-distance with leaking calipers). Finally, after many days of going back and forth, they offered to compensate us slightly less than $200 for the calipers. However, they offered nothing for brake pads or labor and never acknowledged their mistakes - using cheap calipers and improperly installing the brake pads. Given the safety issue, sloppy work, and amount we've paid previously, I would have expected a full refund for the new work we had to do. Overall, I am disappointed and urge you to stay away from...
Read moreI just brought my Chevy Silverado 1500 to Ron’s to have an oil leak fixed they told me the valve cover, the power steering line, and a radiator line was to blame. This was a $990 dollar fix. As it was just oil leaking from my car and all other fluid levels had remained the same for a year I was skeptical. I asked them to please make sure that something was actually leaking before they made the fix. The owner assured me they had found the problem. So I had the work done. This took them over to weeks to diagnose and 4 days to fix. I drove the truck for a day then went on vacation, when I returned a week later the truck was still leaking just as much oil as it had been decode I brought it to Ron’s. I brought the truck back to them so that they could find the problem. They had the truck underbody thoroughly cleaned and injected an oil due to find the leak. After 2 days of it sitting there, they have told me that it is coming from their intake manifold and that it would be another $460 to fix. Upon explaining that I had just paid $1000 to have this exact problem fixed and that it doesn’t seem right that I would have to pay to fix it again, they told me there was nothing they could do for me on the price. This shop does very slow work and clearly has trouble identifying vehicle problems, and worst of all they do not stand behind their work. I do not...
Read moreI felt completely taken care of by Pete, Amanda and the team at Velocity. They worked on my 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis twice in the past few months. Having an older car comes with the risk of issues that crop up for repair. The most recent issue was in the upper steering column and the part that needed to be replaced is no longer made. They got in a used replacement, but unfortunately it had the same defect in the plastic tubing. In the end, they fabricated the piece in metal after researching the specs to make it. There is absolutely no place else that would have gone to the lengths that they did to identify the issue and repair it better than it ever was. The fact that they had a machinist to make the piece as well is amazing! I feel that they're extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. The best combination with car repair and not always easy to find. Their pricing is also very fair given the expertise they offer. Thank you to everyone...
