RULES RULES RULES!!! The website does NOT say four wheelers or electric golf carts are prohibited. I arrived for my 3pm cabin check in at 3:15 (there was no one in the office, the cabins were all locked) I tried calling the park number and left a voice mail. After 25 minutes, we saw a couple park workers speeding by on their golf cart. I stopped them and told them I needed to check in. My nephew and I went on the electric golf cart from the cabin to check in, this is Wednesday, I had asked if they had another cabin available (I did not see a single other camper while there) she stated they did not because people stayed there during the weekend and they need 48 hours between visitors to disinfect, I'm a nurse, I totally get that BUT they checked out on Sunday and we checked in Wed?? My calculations say that should have been fine.
I was camping with my sister and our kids. The park lady then said to give the workers a few minutes at our cabin because they needed to clean the coffee pot and change a lightbulb? (I kind of thought this would have been done during the 48 hours, but...) no biggie, we stayed outside and started unpacking. After the workers finished the work he said "sorry to rain on your parade, but we can't have four wheelers or golf carts here" I asked, not even electric? (keep in mind, it is Wednesday around 4:30pm and no other campers)...we told him we won't move the golf cart or four wheeler.
We were not able to secure another cabin so I had decided I would drive back home Wed eve and have my sister and her kids stay at the cabin. Around 6pm another park worker approached our cabin and pointed to the golf cart and said it was not allowed. It hadn't moved an inch since the last guy told us that, no one was even sitting on it. I told him, I understand "there is no fun allowed". Our kids wanted to go fishing so they walked the 0.7 miles to get to the water, would have been nice if we could have taken the golf cart down.
Everything about this stay was very uncomfortable. If you are looking for a family friendly campground, keep looking, this is not it. I am a responsible 30 something educated lady and I felt I was treated like a delinquent teenager. I will never return...
Read moreI've nearly grown up at this campground, and while the reservation process is a bit technically behind in this day and age, I think it's absolutely worth it. The campground is well cared for, and almost always quiet. If you're looking to get rowdy or make a bunch of noise with vehicles and such, a different campground would be better suited. This is a peace and relaxation campground, not bring your brats or bros and make a bunch of noise throughout the day campground.
It has great tree cover throughout, and excellent privacy between campsites. Shady is the keyword here, not blistering under summer sun sort of sites.
The bathrooms are always stocked with essentials, and are kept clean as can be. Smell is at a minimum.
Another nice feature is the lake, near the bottom of the campground. It's a short walk, with several beautiful trails that weave in and out of the woods, over little water features and several creeks/rivers.
Overall -- one of my favorite campgrounds I've...
