I arrived late at night Friday (10/15/21) and self registered ($30 a night). The spots were close together but easy enough to back my 26 foot travel trailer into in pitch black darkness. Some of the sites have the electric (both 30 and 15 amp) farther away than others and my short mid 1970s cord didn’t reach but it was midnight and I was going to sleep anyways so it didn’t matter. The Ace Hardware store in Bayfield has 30-15 amp and 15-30 amp converters, 30amp extension cords and pretty much anything you’ll need if you find yourself in the same position I was. The local grocery store had great pork prices so we were able to grill on the fire pit which had a grill built in. All other guests were quiet. We got visited by a rambunctious puppy and I have no idea where it came from. The park is FULL of the biggest mushrooms I’ve ever seen! Bundles of firewood are $6, ice is $3. Both were stocked. The ranger showed up around noon Saturday and the few other campers that were there left quickly after (guess they didn’t pay.) The cell service is spotty at best but if you’re going camping to relax, bring a board game and have some fun! Sometimes the most relaxing thing is to disconnect from the grid and this is a great place to do it! I’ll definitely be back, maybe even within the week. :-)

My wife and I camped there for 3 nights very early in the season. (5/15/24) Bring warm clothing if you venture out early, it gets cold here at night. At that time it was very quiet, only other campers there were a few fisherman. There was no showers, only pit toilets were open, and no camp Host. My wife and I loved the quiet solitude. At that time of the year, don't plan on doing anything but relaxing in your site or at the beautiful nearby beach. Nothing else is open, including the nearby visitor center. Fortunately the weather was as good as it gets there at the time we visited and were able to enjoy the nature of the area.

A decent campground to stay at. It is right on the lake in a decent dock. It is also right next to the visitor center. The actual campground itself had some electrical troubles and in the past they charged for showers, but now they don't. It's a little confusing and the showers are very dirty. The bathrooms are pretty well maintained, but I believe that is own/operated by the national park service and not the city campground.

So looking at the map provided on the website of the township it looks like a super nice campground! The site we picked the staff lady we spoke to on the phone said it was "tucked back in the woods". We enjoy our privacy so that sounded great. She warned us on the phone though that the map isn't very accurate. One of the few campgrounds in this area also that accept reservations so a plus since we were coming from 5 hour away. We showed up and its self check in. We get to our very small and narrow camping site, very disappointed. We were going to go somewhere else but couldn't get a hold of anyone in the office and already put all the money in the self check in box for multiple nights. Look at your site first before depositing your cash! The electric was backwards for us; each site shares electric with the adjoining site. The way we had to put our smaller 19' camper felt like we had to just fit it in, and the camp ring was a ways away and in a strange spot. Site 5 is right on top of a fish cleaning site (sticky) and maintenance vehicle storage area. We faced the water spigot and woodshed and had no privacy all week. We walked around the entire campground to find a better spot if we wanted to come back, and really decided the entire place was unacceptable for a revisit. Very crowded, close sites all around. The people next to us had a tent almost touching our camper. No hosts. We felt like there was no staff, we didn't see anyone and people were actually coming up to us to ask questions! They couldn't get a hold of anyone at the office on multiple days. I tried to call the first day to possible change sites and no one picks up. Staff showed up once to mow the grass and once to collect money for wood. Other issues: Cell phones do not work here, verizon, US Cell, nothing and others around us had those same issues from all over. This place has no staff and no emergency phone. Wood expensive at $6/each bundle - and you can't bring in any outside wood. But to there luck there wasn't anyone selling wood for miles. Water was on the other end of the campground by the self check in station. Nice dock, ok swimming beach. To me this was so far out of the way of any civilization up here, if you are looking to spend time in Bayfield, Washburn, etc. I would recommend a different campground. Long drive, tight sites...

Oh if you only knew the 10.00 buck deposit is so you will stay there because once you see it you wonder if you could canp someplace else! Camp is crammed uneven and disgusting. The fire ring is at the back of you rig at least ours was. Showers well if you find pubic hair you at the right Campground, the showers are expensive and you only get a few minutes and then if you try putting quarters in at the end of your shower it does not remain running it will turn off on you you have to know that ahead of time my shower turned off on me with soap all over my body all your things will get wet there's no shower curtain so the shower room is actually really big but the spray goes everywhere so you have to bag everything I just threw on my robe and ran to the bathroom. On occasion my husband and I shower together because it is a family shower and he was so grossed out I said look up Don't Look Down! There is no one there to greet you check you in it's all self serve I cannot believe we even stayed there lesson learned! The View however of Lake Superior was pretty on one night there was a beautiful sunset that we missed I caught a glimpse of it through our camper because it was a stalker camper lurking outside! I was thrilled he left the next day! You feel totally violated after you've left their! I generally like to give good reviews and do very seldom give bad reviews but if you are looking at this review and you are wondering is it that bad ... it is that bad it is that bad!!! never will I stay there again! We didn't take any pics of the campground because I was embarrassed of its condition! I should have taken a shower pic! That would get stop you from staying there! Oh yeah the camp caretaker came once a day to pick up the envelopes in the self serve box never did she get out of her vehicle and clean anything not even the shower! She did not greet new camper she did nothing I watched her everyday Drive-In stop at the box to pick up the money park her car in front of another guy's camper who I think was possibly the host but that wasn't marked never got out of her car talk to him for 2 minutes and left didn't wave at anybody nothing! For God sakes find...
