About a month ago, with a major haze of FOMO from missing the SNHU tour opener shows, I decided I would just send it and started plotting the trip up from Boston with my 16-year-old brother in tow for the Phish SPAC run. I did a deep dive on this place as all I could find on the internet were many mixed reviews. I am a hardcore planner and this trip forced and allowed me to chill out about that as I had to detach from that mindset and literally surrender to the flow. With little to find online about what the actual inside of the campground looks like and some negative reviews I was skeptical but reassured by some of the good ones and after talking to a friend that has been before. I booked online and communication was efficient and I was able to pay on the portal ahead of time and provide my vehicle information to make check-in smoother. I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about Lee’s after spending my weekend there, the park staff was so awesome, the vibes were great, there was parking along the dirt pathed roads that ran through the park, and a band called The Reality Check Experiment even played pre and post-show sets on the park’s stage and even a little shakedown too. My only two qualms were purely trivial as the phone service specifically at night was difficult (but if you’re with your people you really don’t need your phone at all) and the first shuttle left at 5PM each night, so if you’re looking to hit the lot and have some time to take it slow there or get in to the venue real early, I’d recommend carpooling with a group or taking an Uber and taking the shuttle back. This place rocks so hard, it was a total extension of the shows and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I hope you ignore all the poor, outdated reviews from people that don’t know how to camp and whose problems with the park were just user error and freaking send it...
Read moreI booked a full hookup site for the week of the Dead and Co. concert. Mandy the manager was great with calling me back several times to confirm. I was told from my camper friends to not stay there because of the concert camping. When you visit the website, the pictures do not really give you a good idea of the layout of this campground. This is not your typical place and that is why I loved it! I do not advise bringing kids during Dead&Co, DMB or Phish concert week. When you pull into the campground, to the left are sites for summer residents and they have been staying there for years. It is right on Saratoga Lake, optimal if you boat or kayak. In this area are 5 full hookup sites, but need to book early and recommend these sites. There is no fancy office, playground, pool or common room like KOA or good Sam places. There are two bathrooms with showers, not terrible! There is an ATM, ice machine and firewood. Stewarts Shop and marina is right next-door and very convenient. The WIFI and TV antenna worked great! OK, so concert camping…. The property is huge and there can be up to 3,000 tent campers!!! Yes 3k!!!! The campers are in a separate area away from the resident camping. They have vendors with food, t-shirts etc. The Dead & Co crowd was great! Security is AMAZING and constant. We met a lot of great people including the staff who work around the clock. Two days after the show the place was clean, like there had never been thousands of people there. It does get muddy, I guess because you’re on the lake, but the staff is accommodating in filling in with woodchips. Saratoga Springs is close, Albany and Lake George both 30 minutes away. I loved this experience and am looking forward to...
Read moreWe just stayed there for the FarmAid 2013 concert and thought it was just fine. They has wristbands for a very organized shuttle service to the concert venue. Departure and Return Schedule prominently posted. Wood delivery to the site. We tented and there was more than enough space for our group. The red washroom building wasn't open so we had to use the older shower building, but the toilets flushed, the water was hot and it was clear that they were replacing paper products throughout the day. We found the staff friendly and felt the statement made on the bus - that they would "sweep the grounds" of the concert venue for anyone with a Lee's Park wristband so noone one is left behind - above and beyond our expectations of service and safety. Is it a fancy place? No. Could they spend a little money on the bathroom building? Yes. However, if you are looking for a convenient place to hangout before/after a great concert I would definitely go there again. By the way, there was a torrential downpour and it did get soggy in spots...that's what happens outdoors in the rain. Choose your tent spot wisely. The site was $25 a head and $10 for the shuttle, which is a cash grab for them but not bad considering the convenience for us. We are all in our 40's - not drunk teenagers. But it was likely more crowded for the DMB concert...and I while it was convenient for what it was, I wouldn't choose to stay there for more...
