TL;DR We stayed in a family cabin for 6 nights in mid-Aug 2025 with a 2 yr & 5 yr old. I'd stay there again but bring more groceries to make it comfortable and for a shorter time; a long weekend is plenty. ||Pros:|• Close to Woodstock for shops and restaurants.|• Grocery stores 10 mins away. Price Chopper for normal shop, Sunflower Market for expensive organic stuff. |• We enjoyed eating outside and BBQing, S'mores etc. |• Cabins were like 'tiny houses'; warm & cozy. AC worked well on hot days. |• Full size fridge in kitchen.|• No noise from campsite at night. |• Staff were nice. |• Check local attractions; the Duchess County Fair was on while we were there and that was epic! ||Tips:|• Bring groceries with you - at least for the first 24 hrs. Including drinking water. They say the water in the cabins was OK to drink but it smelled strange and my kids wouldn't drink it. There is a filtered water station in the 24 hr club house. |• Bring a couple of extra bath towels. |• Cabins have minimal kitchen equipment; 4 x plates. 1 x small saucepan. I ended up buying a cheap saucepan to make it a little easier to cook for a family of 4. There is no toaster. |• I was glad I brought a teatowel, bounty, garbage bags, our own mugs that were larger than a thimble. |• No room for bulky luggage or anywhere to unpack. I did 'Poor man's packing' ™️ (Fresh Direct bags with packing cells) which worked out great as no big suitcases to take up space |• Bears! We saw a large black bear while on the 1 mile loop hiking trail around the campsite. Exciting - but be aware for kids. |• I wish I'd brought slippers for inside cabin. But maybe I am just old. 🤷🏼‍♀️||Cons / PSAs|• Check opening times of local attractions & restaurants. A lot of local attractions are closed Mon - Wed. (A rainy Wed with nothing to do nearly broke this fam').|• Sirens - Autocamp is across the street from the volunteer fire fighters (god bless them). This means there is an air raid type siren and you will hear the real sirens including at 2am. We didn't hear them every night just the first 2 days. Wish Autocamp would have mentioned that to avoid 2am panic. |• You cannot drive to the cabins so have to take little hand pull carts for luggage. Another reason to pack light. |• Breakfast is very basic (literally just coffee and granola - anything else you need to pay for) and some days packed away a little early. |• There's no housekeeping of the cabins mid stay. Though you can ask for anything you need. |• They 'general store' on-site is mostly a tiny AutoCamp merch shop with a fridge of ice cream and beer. No real food. Feel like that's a bit misleading on the website. |• 'General store ' was sold out of firewood for most of our week long stay and s'mores kits for the entire time. Come on guys; s'mores is 15% of the reason we're all here.|• The website makes this look like there's activities put on every day. That was not our experience. |• This is a dog friendly resort which is fine but that means seats in the common areas / club house are covered in dog hair.|• Given how many kids are running around I felt like the staff golf carts zoom around the property too fast.||Generally it felt like Autocamp was doing the absolute minimum for the money. Like an MBA exec team / consultancy has worked out 1) how to lure folks in with a website promising Instagram worthy experiences and 2) exactly what they can get away with delivering for the money and not a an extra kitchen plate more. Yes the Airstreams look cool. But worry a little less about built in cabin bluetooth speakers and give me a freaking toaster. ||Overall I would give Autocamp Catskills 3/5. Although its location is doing a lot of heavy lifting in this score. Its close enough to NYC to be a good option for city stickers like me with young kids. Its a good location for exploring the Hudson Valley. And as long as you go expecting it to be camping I guess its OK. If you go expecting cabin = a hotel you'll be disappointed. I think we stayed too long. A long weekend is plenty. We stayed 6 nights. I also think going with a large family group/ couple of families would be great to let the kids be a bit more free range...

I was initially excited to visit AutoCamp Catskill, especially with their new partnership with Hilton in 2024. However, my experience at AutoCamp Catskill was deeply disappointing due to the unethical and predatory practices of the General Manager, Cathy Johnson, and the lack of accountability for safety concerns.

During our stay, a significant safety issue arose when the bathroom window of the AirStream Cabin malfunctioned and broke. The latch mechanism failed while we were trying to open the window to air out the room, causing the pane to open unevenly and shatter. This breakage was a direct result of a faulty and jammed mechanism, not misuse or excessive force, as Cathy later claimed through email. Importantly, this is not an isolated incident—a previous guest reported a similar issue that was never resolved, which highlights a troubling pattern of neglect.

When we brought this concern to Cathy’s attention, we were met with dismissive and contradictory responses. Instead of addressing the safety issue, she accused us of intentionally breaking the window, despite having no evidence and not being present during the incident. Our attempts to provide photo evidence of the faulty mechanism were ignored, and she insisted the window had passed a quarterly safety check. This claim is particularly concerning given the unresolved complaint from a prior guest from the previous quarter, suggesting that such issues are ongoing and unaddressed.

Equally troubling was the lack of communication and accountability. We reached out multiple times via text, email, guest feedback, and ultimately escalated the issue to Hilton Guest Correspondence. Cathy responded only once and failed to engage further after receiving the photo evidence. This lack of engagement raises serious concerns about whether guest safety or satisfaction is a priority at this property.

The AirStream Cabin itself was aesthetically pleasing, but the lack of attention to safety and the predatory manner in which management handled this incident overshadowed any positives. It appears that their focus is more on extracting financial recovery from guests than ensuring a safe and enjoyable stay.

As a loyal Hilton member, I expect a standard of quality and care that was absent at AutoCamp Catskill. I strongly urge Hilton and AutoCamp to reevaluate the management practices at this location. Until changes are made to address guest safety concerns and foster ethical accountability, I cannot recommend this property to others.

EDIT: This review has been updated to include a photo of the broken window, which clearly shows the uneven opening. The attached photo provides visual evidence that contradicts the hotel’s claim that there were no faults present. This photo was taken immediately after the window broke, which occurred at the same time as I was opening it using the latch. The window had not been tampered with prior to this incident. Also attached is a screenshot of my communication with Cathy, in which she only responded once. When I raised the safety concern, I was told that only the GM, Cathy Johnson, would have the final say regarding the window. Therefore, I emphasize that she only replied once, on January 3rd, and then ceased communication (as shown). Her response to this review is the second time she has ever contacted me, which contradicts her claim that she has provided “lengthy” responses to my messages. I allowed time for AutoCamp to reach out and address the issue before posting this review, hoping they would make things right. Unfortunately, due to the lack of response after I provided visual evidence that contradicted their claims, I had no other choice but to write this review. Please feel free to read the email as well, as it provides more details about the situation that Cathy did not address in her responses.

When I asked for a follow-up on the situation on IG, I was ignored and then blocked. I have only gotten any response when I reached out to Hilton's corporate office instead. AutoCamp is a disgrace to the...

Conceptually, Autocamp should be a hit, but the execution at this location falls very short, especially given what customers are charged.

Disclaimer: My stay at this Autocamp location was a corporate gift.

TLDR version: I’m an avid camper, having stayed at countless campsites all around the world, so I was interested to see what “glamping” at $200+ a night was like. This whole experience felt way overpriced and underwhelming. I think I’ll go back to using my own equipment and campsites at $20 a night.

The Good:

Location - Nestled between Saugerties and Woodstock, you have quick access to lots of Catskills activities and amenities in both towns.

Property - Well manicured, reasonably quiet, and very modern. It is a plus that motor vehicle traffic is limited to the parking lots eliminating the noise of people driving around to their sites. Clubhouse was clean and comfortable.

Staff - All of the staff were cordial and helpful. Check In and Check out were prompt with no delays.

The Bad:

Pre-Check In Communication

I received three email communications from Autocamp before I checked in, all wanting to upsell me on something: Weather/Rain insurance (seriously?), early check-in, and early check-out. My stay was already costing nearly $1K and they were already scouting for more money. Not a great look.

Property, again.

The property looks nice, but the Airstreams, Cabins, and Tents are all crammed together; not much different than an RV park or KOA. In fact, the property has the feel of an upscale KOA with very little privacy between sites. From the website, you’d expect each site to be privately wooded and separate from the other sites. The reality is that your neighbors will be about 15ft away from you.

I stayed in a “Vista” trailer, at added expanse, which was supposed to provide more privacy, per the website. There is no difference that I could see between the Vista trailers and “standard” trailers. Vista trailers are just as crammed together as the other trailers, but are located further back in the property, presumably to provide more quiet. Not worth the extra expense.

Trailers

The Airstream trailers are nice and well-kept, but have very spartan amenities. I was expecting more of a “tiny house” type of renovation of the trailers, especially given the nightly cost. Instead, you are staying in a pretty much stock Airstream with some cosmetic updates.

Airstreams typically have full kitchens. Here, you’ll only get a sink, microwave, and a hot water kettle. Where is the full stove for cooking, especially given there is a skillet provided?

The water pressure in the trailers was non-existent. Showers were a slow stream, barely able to make it out of the head. With the shower running, all of the other faucets in the trailer nearly came to a stop.

Instead of a real coffee maker, Autocamp provides single-use self-contained pour-over packets to be used with a standard mug and water kettle. Dumb idea to begin with, but the packets provided are designed for a 10oz mug. The mugs provided in the trailer were 6-8 oz. Seriously, put a Keurig in each trailer. Fortunately, the clubhouse had coffee carafes available at all times of the day.

Wifi

Effectively useless. Signal strength was great throughout the property, but the connection constantly kept loosing upstream internet connectivity, throughout the property, every 10-15 minutes. Ultimately had to resort to tethering to my phone to get a stable connection.

TV

Streaming requires a some hokey pairing with your phone, from which you can then Cast from your phone’s mobile apps (Netflix, MAX, etc). In theory this should work, but it is dependent on the upstream WiFi connection, which was unstable. I could never manage more than 10-15 minutes of streaming before the TV and my phone lost its WiFi connection. Put some Rokus on the TV’s and run wired Ethernet to the trailers for stable connectivity.

Again, great concept,...
