I will start by saying we are full time on the road for over 7 years. We are KOA Rewards members and have stayed at hundreds of campgrounds (many KOAs) all over the US. This is by far the worst KOA experience we've had. We reserved and paid for a "front row, lake view site" and when we arrived, were put in a back in with absolutely no lake view. There are a few sites with absolutely beautiful views of the Lake Ontario if you're lucky enough to get one. Apparently, reserving a lake view site does not guarantee you'll get one of them. When we brought it to the Manager's attention, we got a few different excuses. In any event, the site we were assigned (site 86) should not be considered "front row, lake view". We asked to be charged for a premium back in site, which would be reasonable and were offered a 5% discount, which is an absolute joke. We asked for a full refund and left. That site is nowhere near worth $600 for 5 nights. The grounds crew was very nice and tried their best to help us, but they did agree that this is a problem and that many people have complained. When you pay that much for a water view site, you expect to have a water view. The first picture is the site we were assigned, the second picture is one of the actual water view sites that we reserved. They are charging the same price for both.

This campground is pretty, clean and quiet ( not a lot of kids due to high cliff at the edge of the campground). The location is right on Lake Ontario and close to Sodus Point, Maxwell Creek and Beechwood State Park. There are farm markets along Lake Road where you can stop and get fresh fruit. You can fish along the pier in Sodus Point, hang out at the beach, eat dinner at one of the places in town and have ice cream for dessert. We didn't rent a boat but there are a few marinas in the area and we will look at renting next time. Beechwood State Park is an old girl scout camp where most of the buildings are still there but on a creepy Blair Witch kind of way. Heading further east on the other side of Sodus Bay you can visit Chimney Bluffs State Park. Southshore Rv park has full hook up sites, some with a concrete pad for parking. There are some tent sites also and one bathroom/shower building available. The people working at the park are very nice and helpful (they will guide you to your site and help you park). We liked it so much we made reservations to visit again this year.

A gem in upstate New York! Site was level and has a concrete pad. Water, sewer, electric hookup on two side in case you are driving in. Staff helped us back in as it was pretty tight. We had a deck with a very scenic view. Observed two sunsets and lots of lake activity. Campground is small so not much to do at the campground but PLENTY to do not far away. There is Sodus Point lighthouse, lighthouse museum, swimming, boating, hiking (Beechwood) as well as sitting by the campfire and watching the stars. I would HIGHLY recommend this campground but to those who don't have kids or have older children that like the outdoor activities as again there is not much for smaller children. Stop by, make some memories and enjoy the views.

My husband and I were so looking forward to our stay at South Shore RV Park, but ultimately, had to make other arrangements. We called and spoke with Gloria (who was absolutely lovely!) and told her we were looking to stay on site 83, a lake front site, from 7/14/22-7/18/22. We told her we had a toy hauler, and with our ramp/deck down, our total length was 32'. She exclaimed that she would have to check with the manager before accepting our deposit on the site to ensure that our TT would fit and the deck being down wouldn't be an hinderance to other campers. When she called back and said the manager gave her the OK to book us, we were thrilled! The only caveat was that if our deck was an obstruction in any way, we'd have to put it up, which we were totally fine with! We couldn't wait to have coffee overlooking Lake Ontario for our four days there. Unfortunately, I had to call her back about a week later to ask her to send me the confirmation email as I had not received it. When she sent it over, I noticed that we had been placed in site 68, a long, pull-thru site that was not lake front. I called her back and politely asked her if that was a mistake, since we had spoken about site 83 so extensively and you know, they wouldn't even take our money for the deposit without verifying with management that it was OK to put us there. Gloria told me it must have been a computer glitch that put us at site 68 due to our length (??). Either way, I asked her if she could put us at site 83 like we had discussed, and she said no, unfortunately all of the lake front sites were booked for those days now. It was such a bummer. On top of all that, when I told her we'd just like to cancel and receive our money back, she said that was fine as our reservation was still two weeks out, but it would be less a cancellation fee of $20. It just felt wrong for them to even take any of our money after they're the ones that put us in site 68, whether mistakenly (which they should've tried to rectify; lake front site 84 was available 7/14 - 7/17..) or on purpose (because they didn't want us to have our deck down and possibly blocking the view for other campers around us). It was just a really big let down, honestly. Gloria was so sweet and did sound apologetic when I talked to her and made the decision to cancel, and I know it's only $20, but it was the principal for me. I won't write off the RV park completely, and would hope to stay there one day, but for now, the sour taste in my mouth remains, so it certainly won't be anytime soon. If you do decide to book, make sure you get your reservation confirmation email the same day you make the...

The experience at this park was horrific the minute we arrived. Their maintenance manager was condescending and rude. We actually tried to cancel the camping reservation before we went and the RV Park manager talked us into keeping the reservation. She told us that we would have WIFI (I had planned to do some work early Saturday morning), we were told that we would have 50 cable channels and that our campsite had water view and we would have water access. The WiFi did not work, there were only less than 10 cable channels, and our campsite view was of the bathrooms. The firepit was directly under the streelamp. At 9 pm on the Friday night we arrived, I had to get permission from the RV manager and maintenance manager to let me move the firepit and they were beligerent and rude. They would admit to nothing. They lied about our site and our access. When they finally gave me permission to move the firepit to the back of our site, I said to the maintenence manager thank you very much that will be all and offered to shake hands. He refused to shake hands with me. Their service and hospitality is subpar. This is an RV camp that caters to a particular group of folks. This is not for campers or families. The sites are right on top of each other and cramped. We also ran into another set of campers who struck up conversation with us at a local winery there and mentioned that they camped there just last year and that they now camp at Lake Bluff and that their experience was similar and that they would never ever return to Southshore RV Park. Do not camp here. The site behind us was up with a dinner party and we overheard their conversation. They said they park their RV there because there are no children and the set of rules that are there keeps the noise low. So if you're looking for an RV park where you are not looking to camp and have fun or family camping then this is your place. And the rude maintenance man can yell at...

Feel lucky to have found South Shore RV Park from a google search on my IPhone while traveling from Niagara Falls to Maine in early August of 2017. At first contact on the phone, Carol was extremely warm, friendly, pleasant, helpful, very much available as we got closer, and welcoming when we arrived. I felt like I was talking to someone I have known all my life and was going to visit her for the first time after years of not seeing one another. The location was beyond spectacular, even in the pouring rain that we arrived in, perched high above the shoreline of Lake Ontario, with over the top view overlooking the vast expanse of the Lake. We were met by our own personal guide to our site who stood in the rain giving us assistance with backing into site. We were very near the bath house which was clean, inviting and pleasant and just across from the sites that had front row views of the lake front. We were able to enjoy the view by just walking 30 yard across the way. Would have loved to have been here during better weather conditions but even with the rain and no spectacular sunset experience that is advertised, we still had reason to take and get pretty waterfront pictures. There are quite a few full timers but they don't set up camp to make it look like you're the outsider without all the yard art and permanent landscaping. We wish we could have stayed another night or several nights and will if we ever have a chance. We have nothing negative to say about our stay here or what we saw or experienced while here. Both Carol and the employees we came into contact when we arrived and before we left were wonderful. There is also a lakefront cabin with porch that faces the lake that is available that I can imagine is a real treat for an escape...
