Unfortunate and stressful experience this year sadly.. Paid gold package for 200$ pictures (which does not include price to get in) and they were not good quality.. blurry, eyes closed, shiny and red spots on faces and literally can’t use any of the 55 taken. Photographer agreed with the quality and apologized but only will edit a "few" and the place said pick "2-3" to edit. In tiny new building this year, no mirror or room to sit, no room to put coats. Photographer agreed "the vibe was better last year". The place wasn’t willing to compensate us or re do them besides editing a few of them. I emailed in sharing my frustrations being that we drove 90 minutes to just do pictures and the response I received from higher up was not an apology but him accusing us of "trespassing" for not having tickets to get in without checking that out first. We did in fact have tickets to get in and sent the images of our tickets to them. Based only on an assumption he called police for trespassing, which was quickly dismissed after seeing our tickets. I can't imagine reacting that way to a customer and calling the police without the facts. The gate woman felt bad for me and my kids being that we were already going to be late due to the timing glitch but then realizing we were only going for the pictures and not the park yet having to pay for the park anyway. She kindly gave us tickets to get in after she called another coworker. The system lets you pay for pictures without paying for park tickets, did not buy park tickets knowing we were only doing pictures. She was by far the nicest person in this mess. I did not refuse to pay, nor did we enter without tickets, she offered them to us after being on the phone about the situation. Shocking behavior of higher ups and terrible customer service. No apology after the false accusations either, just threatening to sue me if I write this review. We have had good experience in the past so clearly the change is not good this year. Booked 4:20 appt but gates don’t even until 4 and there is a long line of cars so everyone is late and the photo guy said “yea there is a glitch for sure”. Will not be going back ever and not worth the money or stress. Very disappointing and unprofessional experience. Interesting that he thinks we made...
Read moreI would highly recommend Big Rock Creek if you are looking for a rustic, barn wedding. The venue itself was beautiful and although it rained the morning of our wedding and we weren’t able to have the ceremony outside, we were able to make the bottom level of the barn worked for our ceremony.
The venue’s animals were a hit with the guests during cocktail hour and after the reception. They also ended up having a slip and slide and bounce house that some of my little cousins used. They had a blast and definitely burned some extra energy.
They had a list of preferred vendors and I would highly recommend Deutschland’s pasta bar - all of our guests were obsessed with the Italian sausage that they make homemade. We also used Complete Wedding for our DJ and Photo which worked well as they already knew the venue. We would also highly recommend pizza for a late night snack. For us it was $30 per pizza which is hefty but they tasted AMAZING so it was totally worth it.
As far as logistics go, we had a 200 person wedding and for every extra 10 people over 200 they would charge an extra $100. So we made sure to stick to 200 people. We needed wedding insurance as well a $1,500 damage deposit. I think 200 was the perfect amount. We declined renting any of the permanent structures as those costed quite a bit but did rent campsites which was so fun! The groomsmen went up the night before to camp and hangout around the bonfires and then the rest of the wedding party and some family members stayed the night of the wedding.
The staff was very communicative, and flexible as we waited to the last minute to decide to do an inside vs outside ceremony because of the weather. Barb the day of host was GREAT! Shauna was prompt in all of her communication and was very positive and supportive. The bartenders were also so fun and kept up with the orders all night.
They have a getting ready room for the girls which was definitely busy (10 people getting ready) but had enough room for everyone. No room for the men so we sent them to get breakfast and then they changed/ got ready in the upstairs bathrooms that are big which worked just fine (but would be nice if they had...
Read moreMy family went to Miracle at Big Rock for the first time this year and LOVED every second of it. We visited on Christmas Day since our plans were cancelled, and it was so magical! I should have kept a tally of how many times I said the word magical throughout the night. The lights were amazing, and it wasn’t crowded at all. We got there when it opened and walked the loop by ourselves most of the time.
Then we went to get food at the food court. We started off with pizza slices. It was expensive, but delicious. One of the best slices of pizza I’ve ever had, but I was also starving so that may be an exaggeration. That didn’t fill us much, so my mom got chili which was “fabulous” in her words. I got Penne Alfredo with Meatballs from another place. The worker was so kind, and I loved the food. The pizza was better, but it was still delicious. My brother had a sandwich at another place which he said was really good. We went inside to eat, and the music in the barn was beautiful. Once again, it was magical.
We continued our loop. I loved seeing live animals. The ice sculpture was incredible, and it was really fun to take pictures of as the lights changed colors. My brother went sledding. Then since it was darker out, we made a quick loop around a second time. I can’t recommend this enough, and I can’t wait to go again!
The only thing I wish was different is that the giant moon was broken, so we didn’t get to see it. That would have been exciting. Maybe next year I’ll...
