Stayed 3 nights for a work trip participating in an AKC Scent Work trial. They were dog friendly, affordable and close the the fairgrounds where the trial was held. My room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed including a fridge and freezer, toaster oven, microwave and coffee maker. I enjoyed relaxing outside at night after the trials with my dog. There was a fireplace, grill and wooded walking trails behind the motel. Quiet and peaceful. We will definitely return if we are out this way again.

I had some business in the Twin Cities for a few days. But I also had my dog along...himself a seasoned traveler. So I was searching for a quiet place away from suburbia, without hallways, and with room to move around. I was looking for a traditional mom & pop place that wasn’t a front for a meth lab. That’s a seemingly tough find these days. A quick study of reviews told me this might be the place. Maybe. ||So I placed a call and did some inquiring. I wasn’t real happy with the $20 extra charge for my dog...who’s cleaner than most any child. But I made a reservation and paid the penalty. When I arrived I was shocked how clean and cozy the place was. It was a much nicer room than any of the mid-level chain hotels I’ve stayed in of late. The pride of ownership is very evident here. ||Yes, it was a bit out of the way for me. But the setting, and the room, more than made up for it. It was well-worth the extra 45 minutes of driving each way. I will say it was a bit expensive to have a pet along, (I really wish more places really understood pet ownership, and I also wish more pet owners were responsible enough so people like me didn’t have to pay more.) and finding anyone at the counter in the office was a bit of adventure. I tried twice to raise someone at the front desk during my visit and was unable to. For a place that has such a personality I was a little turned off by that. Having someone readily available would’ve really added to the charm of the place. ||That said, I enjoyed my stay. I found no fault at all with the room or the facility. But please re-think the $20 pet penalty, and make yourself more accessible at the front desk. I’d like to come back next time I’m...

We had a family function in the area and decided to try the David Motel. We were a little leery because it's in the middle of nowhere and thought it might not be a safe or nice place to stay....Boy were we pleasantly surprised when we pulled up. The front of the motel has lovely plants, pots, decor. You can tell the owners really take pride in how their motel looks.||We had our 2 dogs which they welcomed ( with a deposit of 25.00 per dog). The back yard has little sitting areas including a bond fire ring. There are groomed trails in the woods.Beautifully cared for gardens all over the property.||The place look about half full and it was quiet and peaceful!||We stepped into our room and it was VERY clean. ( I used to work at a motel and I checked for dust everywhere)||The room was decorated like a cabin. Lovely quilts, fluffy pillows, soft sheets.||The shower was completely tiled and not a spot to be found on the tile.||||We loved sitting outside in the evening at the table and chair set up outside our room. It was so peaceful.||||We will come back for a quick overnight getaway. Its so close to Mpls but it feels like you are up north.||||As far as traffic, it is on a road that connects a few towns together so there is traffic but it wasn't anything out of control. It didn't wake me up. I could hear my husband talking when cars went by.||||The views are very pleasant...Theres a big red barn across the street and...

First off I use to love coming to this hotel, until this experience and the way we were treated. Me and my wife checked into this hotel. We were told by the brother that there were rooms available up in check in. Funny thing is were told by the gentleman at front desk we had to pay for room upfront for the 3 days we planned on staying. There was a white female customer in front of us who reserved a room and they never asked her to pay upfront for the days she was staying they were very nice and polite to her. We stood there looking at the reservation book and it showed plenty of rooms available for our stay. We paid $95 for 1 night for the sister to tell me, when I went to get ice from the office, I know my brother said there are rooms available but we are booked up. I told her I figured you would say your sold out. She went outside and wrote our plate number down for both cars after I already wrote it down. She also hung around our room. She stated she wanted to make sure we were the only people in the room. I can't believe we were told our 1st night is a trial basis to see if they will let us stay. I never heard any other customer being told this trial basis bs. I will never stay here again was treated like a criminal and was basically interrogated by the sister, the things she implied was distasteful and disrespectful. Be careful renting a room here being black.

Signed...
