As you crest the hill on their private dirt road a few farm buildings come into view anchored by the quaint farm house on the 100-acre property. Greeting you is your very accommodating host Lisa (the baker). Her husband Mike (the chef) is excellent with local recommendations as he is native to the area. After walking through the cozy front porch, the house is everything a farm house should be. The floors are mostly wood and the decorations are country and feel like a lived in home. Mike's parents (Jane and Dave) are in a separate suite in the house. The room was very nicely arranged with night stands with draws perfect for our clothes. The rooms have their own AC wall unit which is great for individual room comfort. The Great: Breakfasts were amazing. Each morning was something more interesting and delicious. They were both so welcoming and flexible. Eggs were fresh from the hens in the yard. Always hot coffee and water for tea ready in the morning. The location of this B&B is probably it's most underrated aspect. Nestled between the lakes of Keuka (QKA) and Seneca you couldn't be in a better spot. The wineries we went to on either side of Keuka lake had the best views. We did find a couple of nice lake views on the Seneca side but they were harder to come by. You’re about 10 minutes from the lakes and 20 minutes from Watkins Glen and Hammondsport, nice towns at the southern tips of the 2 lakes. Hospitality was flawless. From the time we pulled in to the time we departed we felt like one of the Deans. Lisa and Mike were always ready to come back to the house (they live on the property within ATV distance) to address an ask when we had one or Jane and Dave we around to offer their tales of travel or setup a fire in their firepit. Just wonderful people. Mike and Lisa’s recommendations for wineries, breweries, restaurants, and sight seeing were spot on. We were in the region for 4 days which is not enough time to do it all so having spot on recommendations helped us avoid time wasting and allowed us to make the most of our time there.
We absolutely recommend the Dean Lane Bed & Breakfast to anyone visiting the Finger Lakes region. I can tell you we’ll be...

Lisa went the extra mile in ensuring our comfort, between COVID precautions, arrival coordination and a surprise home-made bakery treat. Come for the location, but stay for the food ... Chef Mike really blew our socks off with the breakfasts (see pics!). Always on time, down to the minute. His culinary expertise shone through with egg hash dish, but what stole our hearts were the blueberry buttermilk pancakes with freshly made whipped cream, crisp on the outside and pillowy inside. We loved them so much he offered to pack us the extras to go without hesitation; A+ for service! Pork sausage was from their farm, truly farm to table and seasoned with the family recipe. I do note tables were socially distanced and he was excellent about wearing his mask.
We got great tips/advice from Lisa, Mike (and Mike's parents, who have great tales) on activities/wineries in the area, they are all passionate and welcoming. The B&B has convenient location midway between Keuka and Seneca lakes, so we got to check out both with ease. Also it's close to Watkin Glens, an excellent distillery (in the middle of nowhere!), and not far from marquee wineries ( Dr. Frank's, Barnstormer, Heron Hill, etc.). At the B&B, hammock and rocking chairs so we could get that country feel. Room was comfortable with well appointed, roomy bathroom (note: the bathroom door looks nice as it is barn-style, though that means it is not sound proof). Lastly, be sure to check out the farm animals in the AM
I still dream about those blueberry pancakes. And that's after having been to Maine :) I look forward to the day we will return...
Read moreMy husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this B&B on our recent visit to the Finger Lakes. What a peaceful and quaint place! Mike greeted us and gave us the tour of the home and answered any questions we had. He also gave us some wonderful local recommendations for the area. We stayed in the "Big Tree Room". Our room was spacious, clean, and we had everything we needed. Right outside our room, there was a station with a small refrigerator (perfect for our wine and leftovers) and coffee and tea should you want to make it at any time. The icing on the cake to our visit was our AMAZING breakfast! On that particular morning, we had lobster benedict with a salad. The bread that it was served on was also freshly baked by Mike's wife, Lisa. We enjoyed it outside on the deck with delicious coffee. Mike certainly has a gift for preparing food. You can feel (and taste!) the thoughtfulness and care that goes into the meal. His wife, Lisa, is also very kind and friendly AND her baking is not to be missed! She left some freshly baked biscotti by the coffee station and I was so excited to enjoy it with my coffee. My only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer. What a great team Mike and Lisa make, not only as gracious hosts, but in how they work together to make the food an enjoyable and memorable experience as well. One thing is certain, we will be back again and for longer next time! Thank you for a...
