We have a photography workshop business and make group reservations at the locations we visit. To the best of our ability we try to utilize local hotels and motels rather than chains to support businesses in the community. Bar Harbor and the surrounding area is very popular, many local hotels did not seem to care that we would be bringing a group to fill their rooms, it seemed like we were actually inconveniencing them with all of our questions and that we actually wanted to see a room before bringing our group there. Not at the Acadia Sunrise Motel, Katherine, the owner, was more than happy to answer any questions we had and show us the different room types that were available. She blocked off rooms for the week of our workshop this year and her and the staff made sure all of our clients were comfortable during their stay. All of the rooms were impeccably clean, standard rooms were a good size and had the basics, the other instructor and I shared a family room which was quite spacious, two very comfortable queen size beds, a futon, and a kitchenette with a mini fridge, small dining table, and microwave. The Acadia Sunrise is located right beside the main road and we could be in Bar Harbor or at Acadia National Park in 15 to 20 minutes. Katherine and her staff treated our clients so well that we already booked this motel for a...
Read moreWe have stayed here for now 2 months as a monthly rental. We had the grounds keeper come upto us and demand money early even after we had confirmed when a payment was to be made. Prior the payment arrangment was fine. But we were a day prior and they wanted us out. Also was promiseed a room with a kitchenet and when we arrived we were put in a single bed room with a bath and no cooking options for the same 1400 they wanted for the one with kitchenet. They also have false advertising going on when they say they have a usuable pool online, unless you like green bog water to swim in id think twice and also Look under your beds you will find food fingernails and toenails and other nasty things. Also instead of washing bedding they just remake the bedsAlso people doing drugs and drinking obssevivly on grounds, along with police visits and of course the lovely cockroaches and bedbugs they have but deny even tho i have photgraphic evendence to prove. I guess if you want to deal with losers who will screw you at any chance, and wanna deal with the bugs and ignorant owner and employees, then come one, and all. But im running as soon as i can find a place to live...
Read moreI am giving a 5 star rating only because I can't give HIGHER!!! What a wonderful stay. It looks like every other motel from the street, but the backyard is beautifully landscaped with a pool, patio, walking path, play yard, fire pit, basketball nets and picnic area with gas grill. Free range chickens walking about are fun to watch. This pet friendly motel offers surrogate dogs and a cat for pet owners that are not traveling with their furbabies. The owner, Katherine, even let us borrow a pot and showed us how to cook (read: cooked for us) lobstahhhs for dinner one evening. The only negative thing I could say about the stay is that they only offer full size beds...it is a little small when you're used to queen or king. We easily overlooked the inconvenience of the smaller bed. Fabulous stay!! Highly recommended! (Please Note: motel shares a property line with the Bar Harbor airport. It is not exactly a busy airport, but you do hear planes taking off/landing. Rarely past 9pm or...
