Read moreMy kids did have a blast it was a small enough place for their ages. For the amount of money I paid I was very disappointed. But the money wasn't the issue because everything these days cost more then it should. My first issue was all the staff were on their cell phones the whole time. I understand you have signs up saying no lifeguard on duty but at the top of the waterslide were there's tons of kids the staff should be on full alert. Even when we went to the dry side my kids had to wait for them to get off their phones. My 2nd problem was that half the park shuts down at 6pm which was fine. It was our first time there and we didn't know. We ordered from the snack shack @5:50 and paid for our meal. We were missing one thing and the guy snapped at me saying they closed at 6. I apologized saying I didn't know, but he charged me. We also had all our belongings at a picnic table and the staff threw it all on a lawn chair knowing we were in the snack shack.. Tried to change into dry clothes and they rushed into the bathrooms and shut them down. We then moved all our stuff to a table with no umbrella by a garbage can one of the YOUNG staff members came threw the top on the ground removed the bag with out putting another one in the can, while they went around an collected all the other trash. I've worked customer service my whole life so I get it. When it's time to close you want to get out of there but we were made to feel uncomfortable and like we were being an annoyance when their wasn't any signs that were visible stating the hours of the different parts of the park. Unfortunately for my kids this will be the last time...
Read moreI've been reading many of the reviews that have been posted here and felt I needed to add my comments. I currently host a nationally televised RV series entitled "RVing in the USA" on Motor Trend Television and Motor Trend+.
In August, my crew and I spent an entire day at Wild Acadia Camping Resort shooting a feature for the series and met the entire staff, including Andrew Allen, the owner. He told us the history of Wild Acadia, how much planning and effort went into the creation of the resort and how important it was to him to provide a first rate experience for his visitors. He was very candid and forthcoming and I could tell from his comments that everything in the resort was designed to give everyone who visits a truly great time.
When our shoot was completed, Andrew graciously offered me and my lady an RV site for my Monaco motorcoach for two days and it was really terrific. Great location, full hookup in the pull-through site, no overhead obstructions so my satellite TV had great reception, everything in the facility was spotless, the sites are not all crowded together, and it was a short drive to beautiful Bar Harbor, or shopping, dining out, etc. We've already decided to return to Wild Acadia next year and look forward to seeing the planned additions Andrew mentioned during our visit.
In my travels with RVing in the USA, we visit many campgrounds and RV destinations, and as you can imagine, the quality and hospitality vary from place to place. Without exaggeration, I sincerely would give Wild Acadia a Five Star rating (or even higher if possible).
I hope anyone considering staying there will...
