First, if you are a tent camper - don't even think about going here. I was extremely disappointed in the campground itself but the level of disrespect we received from our neighbors for the three hours I was there before I decided not to finish setting up and hit the road. First of all, I knew the water levels were low because we camped on the other side at Boca Campground (opposite of Boca Rest) but, this was insane.
First we pull up and our camp site #13 and it is literally sitting in #12 like it was the same site. It was sage brush, dirt, rocks, and more rocks and zero trees.
Here we are in a car pulling up to two huge trailers that had 6 ATVs. At first I was like, fine, I can make lemonade out of lemons since we have a lot of great equipment but, as we are setting up, the kid from #12 gets on his ATV and starts to circle our campsite over and over and over again. Then his dad decides to hop on his ATV and rides not around but right through our campsite where I was planning on setting up the tent. I really tried to shake of the bad feeling I was getting but the last straw was when 3 more family members joined and we had 4 ATVs circling our campsite for over an hour. I felt like I was surrounded by vultures in a dust bowl. I don't mind ATVs passing or riding in the distance but they were literally circling our campsite for an hour straight. I finally couldn't take it anymore, there was no host on site so I just packed up and left. It amazes me how some people only have a sense of self and no idea of how they impact others.
I felt awful for my son but, I thought I'd take a shot in the dark and see if logger campground had any room. It was beautiful up there and not only did they accommodate me, the allowed me to transfer my...
Read moreWe stayed at Group site #1 and here's my pros and cons.
Pros - lots of rooms to set up tents 4 tables and nice big size fire pit Clean bathroom for men and women No mosquitoes or bugs
Cons - bathroom is a bit of a walk Group site is close to individual site so there isn't any privacy Spigot and big trash bin is near restroom No trash bins No gate secured so you'll have campers walking into the site Quiet time from 10pm to 6am
If you are going to bring families or if you are Asian you better off going somewhere else where there's more privacy and you don't have a volunteer ranger checking up on you twice a day and/or everyday. In additional, some of the campers there are haters after reporting my family being too loud and making a rude remark to my niece. I did not report them. We were loud on Friday night, but we were far away from the rest of the sites I did not think we were loud. I won't be coming back to this...
Read moreA decent campground, but I think it's one of those "it'll do" kind of campgrounds. The price is a bit high, privacy is a bit low, and it doesn't feel overly 'rustic', in my opinion. Just a standard commercial campground. However, that being said, it is in the beautiful Tahoe National Forest and I definitely don't want to give the impression it doesn't provide the potential for an enjoyable experience. If you're looking for a spot for a group to spend time on the water during the day, then camp and grill out in the evening, it's probably going to be a great choice. As someone usually looking for the 'great outdoors' feel, I wouldn't put it at the top of my list, but I also would absolutely consider a return stop there if I'm in the area and looking for a place to put...
