Great accommodations and service in a beautiful atmosphere. We were in town for a wedding, but we weren't plan on staying originally, driving straight back to Florida after the reception. It was about an hour before we arrived in town that we decided to stay and picked the Cold Water Inn because the bride had a group rate there. However, being so late to book, we just booked a room on the website at full price and drove to the hotel to freshen up before the wedding.
When we arrived, we encountered Patti, whom we told our story. She found the group discount and rebooked the room at the roughly 33% savings for us. Then, she also offered to run home and grab a couple suit jackets for us if we needed them (we had them, just in the car) and offered to help however she could make our last-minute wedding trip work out.
We went up to the nicely appointed room, freshened up, and headed out. It was also nice to see a brand of toiletries I recognize, Beekman 1802 and their goat-milk products, instead of generic soaps that many independent hotels stock. Also having a Keurig in the room stocked with decent coffee was helpful in the morning.
After we got back to the hotel, Patti was still there, interested in how everything went. We told her all about it, and she genuinely seemed to care about our time. Kudos to her!
The free breakfast in the morning was good, and has your standard hotel fare of waffle iron, bagels, muffins, and juices, in addition to a nice surprise of scrambled eggs, bacon, and link sausage for those of us counting carbs.
I stay at Disney hotels a lot, so for those of you aware with their properties, the best analogy would be an indoor version of Port Orleans--Riverside, with its Mississippi Delta charm and antebellum style, but without outside corridors and long walks.
As a whole, it was a very pleasurable experience, and I would gladly stay again the next time I end up...
Read moreThe room was very clean and large, but the toilet had so little water in it, it would not flush toilet paper down. We were advised to ask for a frig and microwave - that they were not available in every room. A call prior to our arrival confirmed this and arrangements were made. However, the microwave had not been cleaned and had someone's left over pizza in it. We had to unplug the TV to get power for the microwave! Impossible to turn off bedside light from the bed, found others were using it by unscrewing the bulb. The men's lobby bathroom was found with soiled toilet paper all over the floor and BM unflushed in one toilet, trash overflowing in the cans in the bathroom and at the entrance outside. Checked men's lobby bathroom 8 hrs later and no one had cleaned it. Most gas station bathrooms do not go that long without someone checking on them. Vending area had nothing but ice machines, Hotel gift shop was nothing like photos on the internet, had to leave Hotel to purchase a snack and aspirin. No resturant as advertised on 3rd party booking sites, no bar either. Too much money spent on lobby and seating area and not on maintenance and quality control. This is a 2 -3 star Hotel at its best. Room 214. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nothing "boutique" about our room, it was a standard...
Read moreLet me preface this by saying we’re on a cross-country two month trip and we’ve stayed in many, many hotels. This hotel has seen better days. There aren’t many solid options in this area so beware-the fancy entrance and furnishings don’t make a good hotel, service does.
Room: Once we checked in and brought in a mountain of stuff we realized we didn’t have running water and the front desk couldn’t give us a timeline. Once the water came back on, we had sinks that didn’t drain and when they did, a bucket had been placed under the sink to catch water. The woman at the front moved us to another room despite the huge inconvenience of moving all our stuff. Once we settled in, we realized the main lamp didn’t have light bulbs. Not a huge deal but a big sign that simple maintenance isn’t a priority. The tub faucet dripped all night.
Breakfast: empty containers, dismal and minimal offerings, less-than-warm service, no tea.
Elevator at end of hall had a sign it wasn’t operating, the key reader on the side door also had a sign it wasn’t operating.
For a hotel that advertises itself as a boutique hotel, it surely isn’t. It’s more a failing low-budget hotel.
Kudos to the gentlemen who checked us out who was kind and apologized for all the mishaps- he was the first employee who...
