Large and well managed state park close to Birdsboro, Reading, Douglasville and Morgantown PA. Only about 1 hour from Philly or Lancaster. The Park has 4 camping loops, A, B, C and D. Loops A & D have no hookups and shared water spigot. Loop B has a mix of electric only and no hookups with shared water spigots. Loop C has about 20 FHU sites and the rest are electric only or no hookups with shared water spigots. All sites are paved, some better than others. There are a range of site lengths to fit any RV and tent camping is popular here. Bathhouses are older but very clean, and showers are free. The campground is about 1 mile from Hopewell Lake where you can canoe, kayak and fish and there is a huge pool near the lake open in season. Pool costs $4 for campers and there's a small cafe and store at the pool. There are miles and miles of hiking trails and it's a good biking place but you will be biking uphill to return to the campground from either the lake or the pool. They also have yurts and cabins for rent. Security is excellent and the park is regularly patrolled. I've stayed here often and...

Picnic table are bolted down so there’s no way to change the setup of your site if neighbors are too close for comfort. Our fire pit had literally 1-1/2 FEET (edited from inches typo) of caked and packed ash that we had to remove before attempting to have a campfire. Park is nice and semi-quiet. Not a ton to do unless you have a separate vehicle, but full hookups are a great perk. Close to home so we keep coming back. We camped here in our...
Read moreFull hookups spots are mostly level and have good space. The bathhouses are definitely "rustic", but have always been clean. The hiking is good, but you really have to look for the blazes to stay on course. Cell service is just okay - I usually had at least one bar of 4G/LTE service. Too many trees to use satellite dish, but I was able to get CBS, FOX, NBC pretty clearly over the air. No ABC. The Hopewell Furnace is definitely worth a visit and it's free to tour. The lake is good for kayaking and canoeing. I don't fish, but there were a lot fisherman and they seemed to be pleased with...
