"FISH ON!" This would be the title of my review, since our first day we started fishing. My brother and I and 2 friends from Ohio just got back from our wonderful time at Pine Point Lodge. The accommodations were outstanding, and that includes the newly formed staff and boat dock crew. Having worked in the service industry for many years, it takes a "well-oiled machine" to accomplish the necessary tasks at hand. Even though the staff were a" little wet behind the ears", by the middle of the week, smooth sailing. Jeff's teaching also paid off in the fish cleaning department. Having to clean our fish every other time we went to a Resort, we were surprised when we arrived at the dock (at night) and the crew took our fish from the live well and cleaned and Delivered them wrapped and labeled.( Which this meant we could fish longer even at night (....Sorry staff) Best boats we have ever fished out of. Wide enough even for 3 people, and when we marked fish with the fish finder, we could mark the location and stay in that spot with the Anchor setting on the trolling motor. Beautiful scenery and access to points along Voyager national park hiking trails. We caught, largemouth bass, smallmouth, walleye, , saugeye, northern pike. And the ones that got off... well... I guess we'd called that " FISH OFF" (fish in the rain, sight...
Read moreWe spent a weekend up at this place, needing a get-away. You drive to the address, park and then take a boat to the main site. It is glorious! We stayed in Poplar cabin which is nicely tucked into the woods a bit. Other cabins are more exposed. Nothing is far from the water. The main lodge has some fishing equipment, some grocery, some T-shirts/sweatshirts, a piano and a pool table. There is something for everyone! It is true there is flooding right now, but they've made good work-arounds for that. It is still wonderful to visit. We hiked the Vermillion Gorge Trail and saw Vermillion Falls - incredible. Lunch at Nelson's resort (you can take a boat there!). You won't find many remote getaways that are as good as this. The cabins are not luxurious, but they have what you need. Mostly - get...
Read moreBeen fishing for 30 years all over northern MN and this is the best resort I’ve ever stayed at! The fishing is fast and non-stop and owners make you feel like family. We even have animal friends that stop by now and then. It’s built for the hard-core fisherman and yet very family friendly. Plenty for the family to do and Jeff and Kathy (the owners) will help you with everything from fishing hot spots (that actually produce) to great hiking trails in a very scenic area. I would and do recommend this to friends and family. I think this will be our 10th year in a row. (BTW, I caught a huge musky one mile from my cabin.) Usually limit out on walleye every day. Can’t wait till...
