We enjoy getting the trailer out and enjoying some time away from the normal grind but not so happy with the KOA in Vernal. Although there was a lot of extras it doesn't make up for the poor customer service and communication. We are a KOA member so all of our reservations go through KOA. When we reserved the site we asked for a specific "super" site and were told that site number was on hold for us. We also ask if we could put a tent on the site for my mother in law or if we needed to get a tent site for her and were told that would be no problem. Up to then we were excited to visit this new to us KOA. Once we arrived the problems began. 1st the site we were promised was given to someone else and we were moved to a new site. Not a huge deal but it you are going to promise a site you should honor it and if there is a conflict at least let us know. 2nd when we arrived we asked if we could put us a 2nd tent as one of our older boys thought it would be cool to sleep out site rather then in the trailer. Lady at the check in desk said that it wouldn't be a problem and to go ahead. The next day as we were rushing out to make our appointment at Dinosaur National Park my mother in law and son were approached and told that they had to take down their tents because it was against the rules. We ask and they said no problem and now it is?!?!? Talked to the office when we got back and were given the okay to keep on up but the other had to be taken down. Again stick to what you say, don't say yes and then come back and say we are breaking the rules. 3rd before leaving we checked to make sure a saw that dogs we okay. website said dog were okay but no big breeds so we left our puppy at home (who by the way is an awesome camper and gets loves and attention everywhere we take her). During the stay we saw a couple Great Danes and a Mastiff walking around the KOA. After trying to follow the rules and then being told that we were breaking them this was kind of kick in the shins that we left her home trying to comply with their posted rules. 4th We ask if it would be possible to trade a table. The "super" site (which is the most expensive site) came with this little dinky table that you could literally squeeze 4 people on but only if you wanted to be on top of each other. We were just asking if we could swap for a picnic table that would fit six people. (You would think the expensive site would have the best amenities) and were just told "No, you have a super site at that is the table you get". She wasn't necessarily rude but she wasn't very polite either. In all we decided that this isn't a KOA we will be returning to as the other KOA have been much more friendly and honest with us. We love the other KOA's we go to and feel more like a family guest at them, whereas here we didn't ever feel the welcome feeling that the others give us. Maybe we are just spoiled because we had been to the other KOA's first and expected the same...
Read moreThis place is a joke when it comes to communication. The overall environment of this campground is nice. The owner Gail took my phone call exactly 2 weeks ago I simply asked for a long-term stay price she told me it was $150 deposit and then $400 a month she told me that it would Simply be just $150 deposit and I can move right in. It came time to the moment I had to move down there so I brought my family with me we were two days earlier than what I told her so I decided to stay in the regular KOA Campground not the long-term stay. I reserved the two nights in the regular stay which very convenient we were showing up very late they made it a very organized way for me to find my camping spot. She asked me for the deposit over the phone did not specify how much it wais going to be I asked her three times Gail the owner on the phone how much was it going to be she didn’t say but I still needed to give some kind a credit card over the phone so I did I was charged $63.00. I was perfectly fine for the $63 but what I didn’t no was that it was only for one night not tonight she did not say what the total amount was when I Astor three times. Then I the next day found out that they tried charging me another $60 I went in and I tried to communicate with her and explain to them that I’m going to stay in the long term and why can’t I just moved into the long-term anyways they did not want to listen the owner herself that actually talked with me on the phone the first time I originally called in over a month ago did not put any notes in the computer or even reserve me a spot I told her I financially cannot afford to pay her an additional $63 for a night that I did not need. She asked me in an extremely Rude way to pack my things and please leave the campground. This should’ve never happened because I had tried on my end to ask for the proper information or even to reserve the campground that I really truly needed because I am moving out to vernal I highly recommend to go...
Read moreWe were here as part of a cross country family fun trip from western NY to Vernal Utah. We wanted to learn about the Oregon trail and experience some hiking in and around the Dinosaur National monument near Vernal. We found the campgrounds to be better than what I had expected. It was clean, well kept, and fun. The pool wasn’t crystal clear but it was well cared for and the kids were happy to jump in and cool off in between long family hiking adventures. We enjoyed the complementary jumping pillow, mini golf and playground as well. ||The staff was incomparably friendly and helpful. They were all hard working, and truly cared about the campground as well as taking pride in the quality of their work. Kudos to the housekeeping crew on site especially miss “ Rebel” as nicked name by her father. We loved how she stopped and chatted after her shift ended, because she wished to thank my husband for his service as a fireman ( because she saw his shirt which disclosed that he was a fire chief) and once invited to sit with us she told us wonderful and endearing stories about her aging parents that entertained all of my family as well as enriching us in some of the culture of the area!!! Thank you. ||The location was great to get to many fun locations such as Moonshine Arch, Red Fleet park, the museum, dinosaur national monument, fantasy canyon, and my personal favorite was the UTV trip I took to see Skinwalker Ranch ( look up UFO Valley UTV tours). ||We stayed in our 45’ motor home and had plenty of room at our site. We enjoyed walking our dog through the campground and seeing the super interesting teepees that were for rent near the tent areas, for camping in, as well as the cottages and cabins that all looked very cool!! ||We hope to return to the area some time and we will return to...
