I first came to boomtown right after hurricane harvey. I understand how badly the flooding impacted this area. However, I had many issues while staying at Boomtown. The highway noise is, as many reviewers say, unbearable!! We could not have conversations outside at normal volume. The first night we were there, my husband had fishing equipment stolen from his truck. There was no water in the city the first 2-3 weeks we were there. We later found out from a neighbor that the owner was filling fresh water tanks without charge (generous, but that would have been nice to know from the actual owner). There were power outages weekly in the beginning but things settled down. The roads were, and still are, very rough. One of our biggest issues was the dogs that were constantly off leash- we would open our door and a random dog would greet us- whether happy to see us or growling at us depended on the dog and the day. We mentioned it to the owners several times. They helped on one occasion to call animal control. But each day we would get home to let our dogs out after work and have to struggle with a neighboring dog being off leash trying to approach our dogs and worrying how the interaction would go. On numerous occasions I would pull in to the park and one dog in particular would run towards my car so I would have to slam on the brakes. We mentioned this to the owners but it seems the residents were not disciplined in any way to make a change. In addition, the "beach" is LITTERED with dog poop. It is frustrating to have the rules apply to some but not all. Lastly, the children from neighboring sites are running through your lot on a daily basis and not being respectful of personal space- balls would hit our trailer and toys were often left strewn throughout our lot that we would have to remove. Finally, we paid for a rv park with amenities- I understand the laundry and Wi-Fi were affected by harvey, but perhaps there should have been a discount since we had none of...
Read moreOne star for the park☆ Five stars for the lady at the front desk ☆☆☆☆☆ We stayed on February 19 for one night. We arrived mid afternoon to early evening. We were greeted by a very very friendly lady ( can't remember her name, she has a baby frenchie 🐶) We visited with her a bit, then proceeded to our spot (#90). The spots were a bit close to each other, but than seems to be the norm these days at RV parks. 😭 The person next to us in #89 had his pickup parked in his "yard" area, which put it super close to our parking pad. We had to watch opening our pickup door, or we could have easily hit his truck. We parked our truck and RV, didn't even unhook because we were tired and were just staying one night. With the park being right off I10 we knew there would be some road noise, but where we were put, was the worst we have ever had to deal with. It did not make for a good nights sleep at all! 😴 The next morning, we closed our slides, unhooked everything to leave. Sadly we were not able to just drive away due to the way the neighbor had parked and the vehicles in the spots across the road had parked. The turn was too tight, it would not be a pretty sight, there would either be truck damage, RV damage....probably both!! Unfortunately we had to knock on #89 door (for a good bit because he was asleep I'm sure) to ask him to move his pickup so we could leave. He was a bit put out at being woke up, but it's the only way we could leave without damage.
Our suggestion would be... knowing someone is stopping for one night, (usually means they have been traveling all day and will be traveling the next day to their next destination) put them farther away from full timers and the traffic noise that the full timers are more used to. I know there were areas farther away from I10 according to the map, understanding they could have all been booked and full. IDK 🤷♀️ I'm not sure if the discount of being Passport America put us in a less popular area 🤷♀️ But we were...
Read moreIf you want to save your sanity, stay somewhere else. This place seemed nice at first but the longer you stay, the worse it becomes. I think it’s unethical for a business to falsely advertise. The noise is horrendous unless you want to pay $300 more to stay on the nice side. Even then you can still hear the highway but not near what it is on the other side. Which might be worth it to avoid all the trash, cats and angry long term tenants who assume they own the place. The gates are annoying as you have to go through them to go ANYWHERE, laundry, pool (2gates to go through) main office, ect. So people will be FLYING through to make it before it closes and we saw a duck get ran over and they didn’t care. That’s pretty much how this place is. It’s in Vidor so it’s a sundown town and very dangerous. The cats are constantly having kittens. The owner doesn’t care, or take pride or help their customers when they need it most. The people writing nice reviews about her obviously know her. The maintenance man buzzing around was the only nice worker there. The laundry machines never work if you use a card, you have to swipe it 100x. The lake has alligators for which they do not warn but ENCOURAGE guests to swim with. The cats will destroy your property and poop all over your spot so be prepared for that because they will deny it and do absolutely nothing when you ask for help when your truck/rv has been destroyed. All around 0 stars but google won’t let me do that. Avoid at all cost. Oh and their “monthly” rent is actually 28 day rent so you pay 13 months at the end of a whole year here. They are sly and sneaky and definitely take advantage of people with their false advertising. I’ve reached out to good Sam as this is not a business I would never want...
