In 30 years of traveling, I have stayed in many hotels, inns, and other types of lodging. I have NEVER stayed in a motel as bad as this one. We stayed here for a family wedding (not the fault of the family members who arranged the location...) and many people decided not to stay after driving into the parking lot. ||||The facility is falling apart and ownership is not fixing things. There are too many examples for me to list, but one example is the bathroom door where it was obviously kicked or forced open and they fixed it with ugly wood putty and screws. Things like this abound at this location. The old wooden stairs and "planking" on the second story is coming apart...amazed that they wouldn't be shut down by building inspectors.||||If you've ever seen Hotel Impossible on The Travel Channel, this is one of the properties that Anthony Melchiorri would NOT be able to save. I guess ownership is used to this as they have a big sign in the locked office that states no refunds after you check in. So unless you demand to actually see the room before you hand over your credit card, there's no going back. I guess it's easier to print a sign when you have many guests complaining as opposed to actually investing money in your property. Even things that would appear to have been remodeled show that it was done on the cheap and with no regard to consistency or continuity.||||Save yourself the aggravation. With all due respect to others who have labeled this a "hidden gem" and such, it is not. It is a run-down old motel with owners who don't have the capital to do the true remodeling necessary to capitalize on the...
Read moreSo this is a hidden gem. It was clear they remodeled. New carpet, new mattresses etc. The bathroom could use an update but were fine. The cabins are perfect for families. There's a fire pit and chairs to hang outside too. Right on the lake. There's a grill but needs a cleaning before getting used. It was quite and about 15 min from the harbor. The price was half what you pay on lakefront Kenosha. ||||Now here's my gripe. The nighttime/daytime worker was a little too much. Every few minutes he was outside telling us various things. Unnecessary micro-management. As we were bringing in and bringing out our bags, he would come out and tell us to shut the door for bugs. I'm sorry, I'm moving my stuff in/out of the car?! Get some screen doors if its that much of an issue. We also were sitting outside our cabin and he kept coming out and watching us and our kids. Our boys were playing near us not touching anything and playing with bubbles. No harm. He kept coming out and telling us to keep them in the area they were ALREADY playing in. We didn't like that at all. If our husbands were with us, I'm not sure all of that would have happened and if they were with us I wonder how they would have reacted to him. We came to relax, go to the dino museum and the jelly belly carnival. The last this we needed was him interrupting us every 10 min(for real) about stuff that wasnt happening. ||||All that said, I'd probably go back but ask for a cabin further away from him so we can have some...
Read moreDo not go here oh my goodness. Its honestly kind of a dump. They left us only a few towels and rags for four people and a five night stay and we had to go out and buy toilet paper and cleaning supplies to clean this place up. The workers intrude and yell at you if you have any kind of guest over, and the remodeling job is horrid i.e hot and cold water tabs mixed up, shower too low to stand under, trim and floor tiles thrown on the walls. There was dirt and old food left by earlier guests. Such as old grapes on the floor, dirt and dry wall dust everywhere, dirty windows and mitch matched curtains, under the sink being absolutely filthy to the point were you can't keep anything under it, etc. It was a mess staying here and definitely not worth the price we paid. The outsides of the rooms were cute with little gardens and circular windows. We didn't use the fire place and I'm not sure how we could of with them yelling at our guest(s). Maybe if you and whoever you're stay with would just like to use it it'd be nice? The view is nice too but also quite dangerous, defiantly not kid friendly. Don't plan on swimming and I suggest on not planning to stay...
