Prairie Rose Inn — Hotel in WaKeeney

Greetings to all who read this review. My wife and I were traveling from Oklahoma through Western Kansas on August 1, 2024 when we were misfortunate (actually, I could say “Blessed”) to be involved in a car wreck near Wakeeney, KS. We were not seriously injured but our car was demolished. The emergency responders helped us at the scene and then offered to take us to a lodging facility in Wakeeney. They loaded our personal belongings from the wrecked car in their vehicles and took us to Prairie Rose Inn. The people at Prairie Rose Inn were most gracious and accommodating. They immediately booked us into a comfortable room and helped us move our luggage and other belongings. Other guests were staying at Prairie Rose Inn but we were treated as if we were the most important people there. The next day they helped us find someone who loaned us a car (we had car rental coverage benefit on our car insurance policy, but our insurance ashamedly failed!) to get us back to our home in Oklahoma.

A car wreck is never pleasant but the crew at Prairie Rose Inn were amazingly compassionate and caring, and they made our distressing situation more than bearable. We could have lodged at any motel in WaKeeney, but we were indeed blessed to be taken to the most accommodating and caring place in the community. The team at Prairie Rose makes a difference.

As an added bonus, dining was available inside of Prairie Rose Inn. Food from Rosie’s Bar and Grille and The Morning Rose was delicious, and The Morning Rose served excellent coffee.

Back in March 2025, my boyfriend and I were going through Kansas to go back home in Colorado. We stopped to eat at the restaurant and bar area of the Prairie Rose Inn. We loved it, the food was really good and reasonably priced. From that point on, we decided that when we come through Kansas again we were going to come back and stay a night. Hence the review now for August 2025.

The Prairie Rose Inn is really cute and cozy. When booking the room, the process was simple and the price was very reasonable. The room we got was homy and just the right temperature. I forgot the name for the specific room we got, but it was the one with yellow color tones. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were amazing. We did not have a chance to use the shower but it was a lot bigger than I expected and roomy. Additionally, I love how they gave me the option to check in VERY late. Since it was past working hours they gave us a code ahead of time to be able to check in and get into our room which was really nice. We did not get in until like 3:30 a.m. Then we ate at the breakfast area of the restaurant and it was really good!
