We stayed in room 120. It was very quiet & comfortable. For the value & being able to bring our small dogs for an added charge of $25 was great. This is obviously an older hotel. They accommodated us with a first floor room, as we requested prior in our reservation, due to my knee troubles. The staff was very kind & courteous. Continental breakfast was average, for most hotel breakfast's during this Covid Coronovirus time. The room had several cracks in the plaster, sheetrock, re-painted over. Ceiling in bathroom had stains & alot of wear from usage around shower area. Clean towels, no stains noted. The toilet was not bolted down good & so, when you sat down & got up it moved & sounded like it was going to break. In which, my husband found comical that I had broke the toilet with my big butt. It had obviously had alot of use prior to my trips to the throne. Every employee we had encounters with was kind, courteous, & helpful. Most all staff was wearing masks when dealing with us. The restaurant & bakery opens at 11am daily. The buffet there was average food items compared to most restaurant buffets, the homemade bread was very good. My husband had the peanut butter pie for dessert, he said it was okay. All the food bar items were very hot & the salad bar was stocked good. It was clean in the areas.|We would come back for the value...
Read moreAfter driving over 15 hours, my wife and I needed a place to get a meal and some sleep. We chose this hotel (Gasthof) as we have stayed at similar (Amish) establishments before, and enjoyed our stay. First, the positive… The lady who checked us in, SUPER friendly! She even seen us struggling, with full hands, for our room key to get in the side door, and ran down to help us in. Our server at the buffet was very attentive and personable. Our room, upon entering seemed clean and decent. Now, the negative.. After returning from dinner, as we were shutting all the lights out, my wife noticed 2 cockroaches on the walls, in two different areas of the room. I removed them and went down to the desk to explain to them that there may be an issue either in the hotel, or the room itself. The now new shift GSR, didn’t seem too interested in what I was saying, as she let me know “yeah, we have those from time to time, and grasshoppers to.” Okay. Well, I understand things like this happen, but to assume that because you’re okay with it, everyone else should be, is not acceptable. She didn’t even offer an apology, nor the option to move to a different room. Needless to say, as tired as we are, we will just pack up...
Read moreMy AUG visit was nice & quiet. I was on the left end. Room 100 side. My NOV visit, on the right end, room 120 side, the 2 old people start cleaning the rooms at 8AM. 8AM! I've never experienced this at any hotel. Theyre clanking glass bottles around, banging around, making a racket. The woman starts a full blown conversation at 8:15 with 2 ppl....OUTSIDE MY DOOR. On a SAT! Woken up by all this inconsideration, I open my door & there they are! Unbelievably selfish, rude & inconsiderate. And they look at my like - "what are you doing?" Im sorry, I really didn't want to get up at 8AM this SAT. I often work late during my week long visit to Wash., IN. I dont have the right to sleep to 9AM or so? Bottom line. STOP HOUSE CLEANING AT 8AM! Start at 11AM like all the other hotels in America!!! Im not sure when this early cleaning routine started, but why do they have no courtesy to the PAYING CUSTOMER? Lastly, the young girl at the counter didnt seem to care. She didnt ask how my stay was. Otherwise I would have brought up the super early cleaning routine &...
