Route 52 Inn — Hotel in Waterloo Township

While I didn't stay here personally, I'm writing this review because a couple of friends did and Route 52 Inn is non-existent on the web. This location is most famous for it's previous business name, Southern Boy Manor. The current owner bought the property from the bank about a year and a half ago (late 2015?) and remodeled it. The rooms are rented on a weekly basis catering to out of town guests.

The address listed on the business card is 13090 S. M-52 (Grosshans) but Google doesn't like that address. 13090 Grosshans Rd. brings you to almost Hinkley Rd while 13090 Michigan 52 puts you south past Territorial. The actual location is in between the two just north of Columbo's Party Store.

I knocked off 1 star because I didn't stay...

An accommodating and genuinely friendly couple own this place. Nothing "extra" here, but they make the best of what they have. Meticulously clean rooms have comfortable beds with silky sheets. Mini-kitchens in room with refrigerator, full sink, and a small microwave, all clean and functional.

The location is quite convenient, on a well-paved, safe highway between I-94 and I-96, making for quick access to the town of Chelsea and nearby large and beautiful outdoor recreation areas. One could even swing north into Lansing/East Lansing from here. There is some road noise to contend with, but it is not overwhelming.

Skip the corporate chains near the interstate and travel to the Route 52 Inn for true...

Absolutely amazing place to stay. If I am ever in the area I will definitely be staying here again. My friend and I stayed for two nights, Marta's ( the owner) hospitality was nothing short of amazing.. the price per night was really good and the rooms were recently renovated and are clean. This is the perfect spot for a short stay in a beautiful area.

P.S if you stay here eat at Big chucks pizza plus the burger was delicious and amazing it's about a 6-7min drive...
