Imperial Lodge — Hotel in Waverly

Apparently they're under new ownership and it's gone downhill since then. Reserved a room at the gov't rate of $62/night. Called back later and reserved 2 more rooms at the gov't rate. Noticed during our stay that we were charged for $77 a night instead. I went to the front office, where a lady (owner's wife) listened to what happened then called her husband. I got on the phone with him, told him the deal, and he immediately starts yelling, asking why I accepted the rooms with double beds because they cost more?! I told him that that's what room they gave me, so I assumed they had provided me with a room at the rate I requested. He said "I'm not giving you the cheaper price. What will it do, save you $10?! If that's the case, I'll give you your $10 back but I'll charge you for the room you canceled! Which do you want- $10 or you owe me another $170?! You made me lose money by canceling that room." Ummm no- the whole place was empty except MAYBE our 2 rooms and 3 others. There are NO prices listed on the website, when you make a reservation they don't provide any paperwork showing your agreed on rate, no confirmation email, or the cancelation policy. Called and made reservation 2 weeks before arrival date. Ask for a double queen no smoking, was told that is what we would get. Got there it was a double full but okay that will still work. We opened the door and the smell of smoking about knocked us down. we to front and all they did was offer candles and to ask if we wanted a refund meaning no room. now normally would have took it but since they had the pro mx going on at LORETTA LYNN'S' RANCH there was nothing else available. so we had to go to dollar and spend 15.00 on air fresheners. bought 2 cans of smoke elemantor and used 1 and 3/4 of them to kill it down enough we could stay in room. our friend woke up with a sore throat and sinus issues that runt the whole day due to the sheets and pillows and everything reaking of smoke. have to wash everything we took in room due to the smell. My advice if you are a none smoker keep driving. Found black n mild wrappers on floor around bed side table. The cleaning staff needs to do a bunch better job. I once managed this motel 7 yrs. Ago. The first owners were simply amazing. The rooms were kept immaculate, the service was great, the ementites better than most affordable motels and mid range 🏨 hotels. The price for rental varied because of intelligent management.. Smiling..One of the only places I've worked at that made sure the beds were flipped and adjusted accordingly​ to the tag as maintenance is recommended..(look under the sheets the next time you stay in a motel or hotel) It's Tennessee..Woodsy So to the person mentioning bugs.. Leave them at home next time..Or I apologize for you not getting the job you applied for...Hence the bad review..My best guess anyway. The Imperial is a lodge, but don't let that word deceive you..Focus on Imperial. Affordable yet very spacious and a little high end looking on the inside.
