Dan and Orquida were wonderful hosts. We visited in July during COVID. I imagine it is not easy to try to run a business from your home but Dan and Orquida made it look like a breeze! They abided by state rules and maintained six feet distance even between guests and everyone wore masks when in common areas. They had breakfast set up in different areas of the house to keep guests away from each other. It did not allow for much chatting and discussion between guests or host; but that really couldn't be helped due to the strange times we are currently living in. They have a beautiful home with a POOL which was great to jump in after hiking all day in Shenandoah National Park. We stayed in the Mornington room which was very spacious and comfy. This room has a whirlpool tub which I loved! My boyfriend on the other hand really isn't a tub person. There is a shower in this bathroom but it is cozy/tight especially for my boyfriend who is a bigger/buffer guy but he managed! That is really the only bad thing about! There is no TV in the room, but there is a common area that has a tv. We just stream off our phones anyway so no big deal for us. However, I see how it could matter to someone who likes to fall asleep to the TV on. The breakfasts were delicious! Dan and Orquida have an am tea or coffee that is brought up to your room before breakfast and they even have cookies inside each room! Another thoughtful addition was the water cooler at the end of the hall! Much nicer to refill a reusable water bottle than to keep using plastic water bottles! We had a lovely time. If you are in the area I would highly suggest spending a night or two! Or in...
Read moreOur experience at this B&B was AMAZING. This was our first B&B experience. We are a LGBTQ+ couple and were always reluctant to go to B&Bs but I found this B&B in an online list for LGBTQ+ friendly B&Bs and that online page was absolutely right. Orquida was so friendly and loving. She made me and my partner feel so welcomed and helped me with surprising my partner with a birthday cake. They prepared a delicious breakfast for us every morning. They had coffee ready early morning outside our room at a coffee station. I was mostly indulging in the hot chocolate that they had at the coffee station and Orquida made sure that the hot chocolate packets were refilled and available for me. Another exciting thing was freshly baked cookies every day in the afternoon/evening. We used to come back from our day of gallivanting to these amazing fresh cookies at the coffee station. I ate more cookies than I should have because they were so delicious. Apart from the best hosting from the host, the B&B itself is very cute. We stayed at their Mornington room. The room was big and had a jetted-tub which was super fun to use. They had games in the common areas which you can play at night when there is nothing much to do outside, especially in winters. They also have an English phone booth outside which looks so cute. Overall, we had a very good experience. If we ever plan to visit the area again, we will be sure to stay at this B&B. Definitely book it for your next trip, you won't be...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I came here for a relaxing break over a long weekend. The B&B is a cute house off the main highway, so it's really easy to drive anywhere you need to go. The rooms were really nice. The breakfast was DELICIOUS and gourmet. We had plenty of coffee, juice, fruit parfaits, muffins, and the amazing main course which varied (rolled omelets one day and waffles the next). You should come just for the breakfast. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water, sodas, and (in the evening) delicious homemade cookies were available. In terms of amenities of the house, there is free, fast wifi, a communal computer, and a communal TV. Every bedroom has its own bathroom (no shared bathrooms!). The dining room is a more intimate setting where you sit and chat with the other guests. The couple who runs the place is fantastic, very accommodating, and knowledgeable about activities and restaurants in the area. The house has beautiful architectural elements that make it very charming. The location was good in that it was a beautiful setting and there were a couple of restaurants and wineries within a 10 minute drive. You have to drive about 30 minutes or more to get to really good wineries and longer to get to Charlottesville and Monticello. The local cuisine for dinner can get a bit old, so I recommend driving a little bit more to visit some other restaurants. All in all, it was a great stay! One of the best B&Bs...
