Subject: Improper Room Cleaning and Discarded Personal Items Reservation Dates: September 29 – October 31
Reservation and Initial Impressions I stayed at your property from September 29 through the prepaid check-out date of October 31. Throughout my month-long stay, the front-desk staff and housekeeping team were consistently friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
Incident Description On the morning of October 26, I left the hotel briefly to do laundry. My husband informed two team members that we were not checking out and would return later that day. I also reminded reception daily that I would provide advance notice if we planned to check out.
When I returned later that afternoon, I encountered the manager, Meagan, and the head housekeeper in the hallway. They appeared surprised to see me but did not comment. Upon entering my room, I discovered that housekeeping had fully cleaned and emptied it—discarding medical bills, a housing contract, appraisals, and other important documents—even though my reservation had not yet ended.
Attempts to Resolve I immediately spoke with Manager Meagan, who stated that clearing what she believed to be an “empty” room was standard protocol. Despite my explanation that we intended to remain through October 31 and my repeated notifications to staff, none of my missing items were returned that evening.
I followed up by phone and in person with both the hotel and the corporate La Quinta office. I was repeatedly told that, regrettably, nothing more could be done and that the incident was my responsibility. The manager promised to investigate and call me back, but I have not received any further communication.
Missing Items and Impact Although I am not seeking reimbursement for high-value items, several personal belongings remain unreturned, including: Two pairs of clothing Shampoo and conditioner New razors and razor mount Various personal care items

Read moreMy stay was scheduled for a month. We were due to check out on October 31st. While I was away doing laundry the hotel staff cleaned my room. My personal items were thrown out.
I tried to resolve the issue with management. No luck. They recovered only a few of my items that were tossed. Several important documents, (including receipts for work, medical Bill's, housing contracts, appraisal, and other important documents)a flash drive, clothing, personal hygiene items and a few other things were NOT found. My daughters drum sticks were thankfully found along with a pencil box and other small items.
They did apologize, but cared not to make things right. The manager was told we explained to the staff that day that we were NOT checking out. The manager could have easily called to verify. We we were approaching closing on our home. But the movers still had to deliver our household goods. When everything did arrive our house was still packed up in boxes. We had no intentions of checking out at least until the 30th or 31st.
Daily I personally spoke to the front desk keeping the staff updated on our checkout. I advised them that I would notify the staff ASAP of our plans to check out. The last conversation I had was verifying that we were not checking out yet.
La Quinta management, and customer service dropped the ball. Saying sorry doesnt replace the items the staff tossed in the garbage. $20 for shampoo doesnt cover all the documents lost.
Several times when speaking with Meagan, she would ask to return a call to us. But she did not return multiple calls.
How does something like this happen? We were not scheduled to check out until the 31st, how can the staff just go in on the 25th and throw away peoples personal belongings?
I am not claiming the hotel tossed out or stole my expensive watch or things of great value. They tossed clothing, a blanket and many...

Pet friendly. Puppy approved.
Walked in and the room was beautiful. It was clean, nice soothing decor & the bed was really comfy. Nicely done. My pup loved the tub. She climbed in, laid down and proceeded to roll around in it. Yes. I have a weird dog. I digress. In the morning (after a fairly restful night), I took a shower and the water was so soft, my hair feels absolurely amazing ...
I had only one issue. While I was drying off, I slipped and fell almost out of the tub. The grippy circles are much too far apart to be any use (unless you wear a size 15 shoe - I don't) and my wet foot slipped in the tub, between the grippy circles and down I went. I hit the side of the shower and landed (straddling) the tub wall (thankfully) next to the potty. My arm will probably bruise - but I am, otherwise, OK.
So - just a suggestion - put some strips or more circles in the tub so those of us with size 9 (or smaller) feet can shower safely without risk of falls ... ... ... or a potential liability law suit for LA Quinta down the road. 😘
Oh, yah, and please fix the drain plug in Rm 101.
Photos: ignore the dirt & puppy paw prints in the tub. My goofy dog likes to hop in after my shower and lick the water off of the faucet. 🤦♀️Daddy had taken her out to potty so her feet were a bit dirty. Just focus on the round grippy circles. .... and the cute puppy ... cause ... she's super...
