We were looking for a great place for our families to meet up for a weekend- for some of the kids, it was their first time ever camping. In researching family friendly campgrounds in the area, we found a few that were not really a good fit. A few people recommended Pine Haven and I’m so glad they did. Immediately upon calling to reserve the sites, I knew we made the right choice- the woman answering the phone was so helpful and kind. We had one pop up trailer and one tent- but wanted to be together AND on the river and Pine Haven made that happen. We thoroughly enjoyed sites M03 and M04- we had our own ‘private beach’ and plenty of room for the kids to run and play. There was a playground right there and some port-a-johns very close- but far enough away that you didn’t see/smell them from our sites. |There were water spigots very close by and a bathhouse with free showers a two minute walk away. |What sets this place apart from other places that I have stayed is the staff. The owners are so friendly and it’s like they are welcoming you into their own home. At check-in, they took the time to answer our questions and were excited to share the fun activities they had planned throughout the weekend. They clearly take great pride in Pine Haven- grounds are immaculate, endless family friendly activities, and multiple playgrounds for the kids of all ages. The owners are also very visible- without seeming like they are ‘patrolling’. One of the owners gave my brother a ride on her golf cart so he didn’t have to carry the wood back from the store to our site- and then she gave him a ride to meet up with us when we were exploring. So friendly and kind!|They also allowed my parents to meet us for dinner at our campsite (they live close by) and didn’t charge them the visitor fee. They weren’t staying long, but most places charge for anyone who comes in regardless of how long they stay. |One of the many things that also stood out was also the incredibly reasonable pricing at the camp store. Most places charge top dollar for ice/wood/forgotten items. Not Pine Haven! I paid less for ice at the campground than I did at the grocery store! |Pine Haven is just the perfect balance of camping and convenience- it’s close to a large town but so quiet and felt so remote. The kids (ages 8, 6, and 3) didn’t want to leave! We are planning to make this an annual tradition!|Thank you, Pine Haven, for a weekend we’ll...
Read moreI was torn when rating this campground. I would say it is really more of a 3 star. However we talked a lot with the owner while we there. They just took over the camp 1 1/2 yrs ago. They were so nice and asked our opinions about a lot of things. You can tell they are working very hard to improve things, so I gave them 4 stars. Our family of 4 was traveling in a 39' motor home. We arrived and were given a map to our full hook up 50 amp site. We were told it was in the newer section. This was evidently started but not finished by the previous owners. We had no trouble making the turns to find our site. It was a pull through. We got set up with no issues but noticed immediately that getting out of the spot by pulling forward would be next to impossible due to trees. This was one item we gave the owner feedback on. Luckily they were not busy so when it cam time to leave we were able to back out. The lots are very shaded and wooded. We did not use the bathrooms or shower houses. We did walk down to the river which was very pretty. It was low, so kayaking was not an option but we waded and explored. The last night the owner came rushing up on a cart and told us there was a bear spotted in camp and to stay inside. That was a little excitement! We didn't see it, but did appreciate the quick response and good communication by the owners. The pool was clean and the store had some basics. We were not able to access the Wi-Fi in the area we were in. Overall we...
Read moreSo I’ve been holding off on this review so I can get a few trips in to the campground before making an impulse review. I’ll be on my 4th time this summer coming back to this campground. It really is absolutely amazing. Just everything. The facilities, the landscape, the amenities, the River, the owners, the location (attractions/stores). Me and my family are not lazy people so the distance to the bathrooms or the hills are not a factor in my rating, I could care less. On my birthday, they came down and gave me a cake. There were flood warnings (we were on the river) and they willingly let us sleep under the pavilion for our safety. They allow me to book months in advance with ease and no worries. I’d highly recommend this campground to anyone compared to surrounding campgrounds. This is coming from a guy that has stayed at almost every campground (tenting) in the white mountains region. Also this year (which is why I was like, yes I’m posting a review) I put together my group chat and asked the crew, pinehaven or switching it up? Everyone said “pine haven”. Keep in mind also, me and my family are not picky people. So if you have super high standards or some crazy expectations to how a campground operates, I’d say save the owners a head ache and move on. We will be staying for many...
