Rare review leaver. But I’ve gotta say something…. Don’t. Do. It. Just don’t. My family and I were really excited for a mini staycation somewhere new to us. We live only 40 mins away, and didn’t want to travel far with our toddler, so we found this “resort” and booked it. Talk about Buyer’s Remorse! I’ll try to sum up…. The guard at the front gate was pleasant upon entry. We went a few miles back once on the property to check in at the front office. The carport area at the front was JAM PACKED with cars and scattered valets running every which way. We saw that the sign said $50 for valet parking PER DAY, so we just said no thanks.. At check in, we were instructed to go to the self parking lot. Umm… ok? Sure. So we drive all the way back to the front of the property and followed the signs to self parking. Apparently, you gotta unpack your vehicle and children and then carry your belongings and kids onto a small shuttle. Had I known we were doing this theme park style, I’d have packed VERY differently. I had 4-5 bags that had to be carried in addition to my almost 2 year old and a roller luggage bag. Oh, and a high chair! Yeah, no biggie. -_- So after we load up onto the shuttle with other guests and their things, there’s no communication from the driver (who was otherwise very kind) as to where we’re going. I expected him to ask what building we’re in so he can drop all of us off at our respective places. Nope! Wrong again. We and our 500 bags, larger than he is small child, and the good ol high chair get dropped off on the side of the road! Terribly confused, we ask where we are supposed to go. They said we had to WALK to our building. With our 7000 bags, too tall and heavy to carry son, and the dabburn high chair. What?! Our building was still not a reasonable walking distance, so we had to wait on the side of the road for an employee with a golf cart to get us and then drive us to our building. Mind you, this is not a dedicated drop off or pick up point. There’s no sign or anything! So needless to say, by the time we hopped on the golf cart with our child who is now almost old enough to be a man, our 15000 bags, and the mother effin high chair, we were already seriously regretting our choice. But wait! There’s more! So we get into our room and are greeted by the 1990’s. And not even the cool kind with vibrant colors and prints and cast of saved by the bell to greet us. The two bedroom suite, although big, is SO outdated! The furniture is clearly stained with body oils over time and I felt the need to deep clean before our now adult aged, tax paying son can play on anything. But that means going to the store! Which means going to the undesignated shuttle pickup spot and waiting to be picked up by the shuttle to be taken to our car so that we can go to the store! So nope. Grandpa baby can now play in the filth. Sorry kid. There are no mattress protectors on either bed, which grossed me out at the thought. No kitchen hand towels. Not one. No kitchen napkins or paper towels. No kitchen soap to wash dishes or our hands! Not even the little bathroom soap set out for the sink area. And none hidden, either. No extra pillows or blankets in the closet to lay down on the couch before sitting on it. There’s not even a single plastic bag in either closet for dirty clothes to be collected in. The remotes are the most ridiculous I’ve ever seen and confusing to use. TVs are old. Carpet looks like it’s never been cleaned. Furniture is dark and empty. No literally, it’s all empty. Random clunky pieces of furniture placed throughout the suite without thought and there is nothing in them! I was hopeful for a spare blanket. Today, our second and last day here, my husband found an active leak into the second bedroom. The carpet is wet and the wallpaper is peeling. We called someone immediately to ensure we aren’t charged or held responsible for the damage, and about 5 hours later, a nice maintenance guy came by and told us it’s the AC drain line that got disconnected. Anyway, don’t go. It sucks. Huge waste of money and time.

Do not stay here. When we arrived late on Saturday night we found the room to be dated unlike what was advertised online, we were so exhausted we did not inspect the room. The next morning upon waking up we found the room was unclean. We noticed that there were chips on the floors, by our beds and underneath, popcorn in the entry of the kitchen, the refrigerator was not cleaned out and there was a sugary substance at the bottom of the fridge floor, cobb webs in the corner of the bedroom, and hair stuck in the shower drain. When we went to the front desk we spoke with Nancy and told her our findings and asked if we could be moved to another cleaner and newer room. She told us renovations had not started yet on the resort and all the rooms looked the same. She took down notes of what we encountered in the room and said she would have it cleaned, we also inquired again about moving to another room regardless if it was newer we just wanted a clean room. Nancy stated that they were going to be checking out a lot of people that day (it was a Sunday) and if we came back that evening we could be moved to another cleaner room and she would notate our file, this was around 9:30 am. When we returned that evening around 10 pm, we went to the front desk before going back to our room to speak with the receptionist, Nancy was off, so we spoke with Juan/Steve (we got conflicting names) about getting a new room he could not find anything in our electronic folder or anything in writing that indicated a room switch. We explained we spoke with Nancy and the findings from that morning. We again, asked if they had any newer renovated rooms as when we drove by a few of the rooms on the resort, the lights were on due to it being dark and we could see there were newly painted and brighter interior rooms. We were told they had not started the renovations yet again. But later confirmed via the bellhop that they did indeed have newly renovated rooms that were on the premises. We also requested our reservation be canceled after this night (we booked 7 days) as we didn't feel the location was living up to the standards advertised. He said since we booked thru a 3rd party we needed to contact that 3rd party which we completely understood. He offered to switch our rooms, but then told us that if we switched rooms there was a possibility we would have another dirty room and that our current room should have been cleaned while we were out. We decided to hold off on the room swap due to this guidance and went to our room to see if it had been cleaned. We walked in and saw the beds were made, however, the chips, and stains in the fridge and the front of the fridge were still present, along with the cobwebs on the ceiling corners. We also noticed the end tables by the couch were covered in dust and when I wiped them down with a washcloth there were layers of dust that came off of the end tables. We were thoroughly disgusted and immediately requested that our reservation be canceled for the remainder of our stay via the 3rd party booking which they thankfully granted. We went back to the front desk and there was a new person by the name of Carlo, he offered to move us to one of the newly renovated rooms (mind you we were told by Nancy and Juan/Steve that renovations had not started) but we declined and asked for a refund he stated he did not have the authority to authorize a full refund but he did give us the information for his boss who would be in the next day as we wanted to also request that the 1.5 days we stayed be refunded as well due to the severity and lack of cleanliness and this hotel being advertised as a 4-star location. I would strongly discourage anyone who is drawn in by the 4-star status to NOT STAY HERE. Perhaps when they renovate and get a new cleaning staff maybe.... But they did not clean our rooms before our arrival for check-in so not sure this would change even with their new renovations.

I am a travel agent and I try to leave reviews that are fair but will help others make good travel decisions for themselves or their families. Recently stayed at the Saddlebrook resort with my daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday. Grounds are very nice. Golf course well maintained and saw many people playing on it. Tennis courts, volleyball. Pools were nice but needed to be better maintained. Hot tubs need to be cleaned out. Staff is very good. Helpful, quick to respond and pleasant to deal with. Valet parking was $30 per night. There. Is nowhere for you to park your car yourself. they help unload/load cars etc. Ledt a good tip for such great service. No issues with golf cart availability to get us around the resort. Very quick to respond and answered any questions we had. Check in was fast. Discussed a couple issues with online booking and was given a number to call to get it resolved. Very friendly front desk staff. Had a nap for where we would be staying and where all the amenities were. Food at both restaurants, Dempsey's Too and Tropics was delicious. Breakfast was a favorite. Dempsey's was stated as an upscale restaurant. Prices do reflect this but atmosphere is more like a sports bar. Did not have to dress up near as nice as we did. Breakfast was buffet style and had everything we could want. Pickleball courts were fantastic. Easy to get to and looked very well kept. Tables and chairs around for taking a break. Water machine close by. Needs lighting on the courts. This was very noticeable.Spa was set up nice. Many areas to relax, get water, lounger while waiting for services. Many different service options at the spa. Ok, now for the Negatives.Rooms. We stayed in a two bedroom. Very very musty and outdated. Beds were not the most comfortable. Water pressure was terrible. When shower was turned on there was a loud noise that came from the water heater in the kitchen. Banging every few seconds with the change in the water pressure. Took a while for water to warm up. Toilet is so low to the ground it would be difficult for anyone with arthritis to use. When we arrived we had a gift from the restaurant on the table for us. I think there was strawberries, macaroons, candied bacon, whipped topping and strawberry custard. The problem is that it has mold all over it and it has been there for days. This begged the question of when it was left and how long it had been since someone had cleaned or looked at the room. It was absolutely disgusting. I did drop it off to the front desk and explained where we had found it. Still waiting to hear back about this. Felt that the food was overpriced big time. It was not an upscale restaurant so I was surprised that the prices reflected one. Breakfast was very good and had a decent selection but not enough of a selection to cost over $20 per person. Spa was also incredibly expensive compared to other spas I have been to. My service was okay but not worth the price I paid. Very light touch and my head massage was only 10 minutes. Pedicure was not nearly as nice as others I have had. Very mediocre. The girl was kind that spent the morning/afternoon with me so she was tipped well but not due to the service I received. Was not a very good one and took way way too long to get complete. Areas were clean but outdated. Was told only one of the four showers produced hot water. The grounds need help. Fountains off and a lot of mildew and mold around the area. Pool furniture needed an extremely good cleaning. Very old and dirty. Lunch was very very good but again price was too high for services rendered. My daughter received a nice parting gift which was a nice touch. As much as we enjoyed pickleball and the food, we will probably opt to go somewhere else to stay. Just did not meet the expectations for the price that we paid. There are other places where we have paid less and have had much better accomodations and experiences. Hope that we hear back from them concerning some of our issues...
