As a platinum Holiday Inn Club member, my rule for several years has been "Look for the next Holiday Inn Express" when we travel because I know it will be a good experience. When taking this trip, I booked at this hotel for 4 nights. The first two I paid for, the 3rd night I used our free yearly member night, and the 4th I used our points for. I took our daughter-in-law and grandchildren down to Wichita Falls to visit with our son who is stationed at the near Air Force Base. It was not the 4 night enjoyable stay I was expecting. The pool is outside, which they had informed me of and that in itself wasn't a problem, but it was in the shade and not heated. It was ICE cold even with the weather being so hot outside. This was a problem since the last time my grandchildren had seen their dad he had just graduated from Air Force Basic Training and wasn't allowed to be out of his uniform in public - so couldn't get in the pool with them. This time he is in his Tech Training and it was a big deal for them that they were going to see daddy and they could spend the whole day at the pool with him. Every guest we talked to the whole time was complaining because it was unusable. The hot tub was broke, and the air conditioning/heat in the room didn't work correctly. You would freeze all day and sweat all night, no matter what you set the temperature on. I asked to have extra towels, blankets and pillows placed in our room when I made the reservation and we never received these. There is a laundry room, but the machine to purchase laundry soap was empty for both Tide and Cheer (the two options) and took your money anyway (which it stated right on the machine that it would lock out accepting coins if an option was empty) and one of the two dryers in the room would take your money but not work. My last complaint may seem minor but when added to everything else just shows another lack of attention to detail. It was a 3 day drive for us from Michigan to Texas and back. Every other Holiday Inn Express on the way down there had Pumpkin Spice creamer at the coffee station and so did this one the first night. The next day they ran out and we went to the desk to request it be refilled. I was told they didn't have anymore. The next morning at breakfast they pulled some out right in front of my daughter-in-law but the pump on the container was broken. They left it this way for two days so customers had to remove the top and poor the creamer into their cups. The container soon became sticky and I guess requiring a guest to pick that up if they wanted Pumpkin Spice creamer wasn't a detail they felt was important. We own a Holiday Inn Club Timeshare and are IHG Club members for a reason - the top notch quality and service I have always felt I could count on. For the first time I was extremely disappointed in the overall maintenance and attention to detail. Oh, and I almost forgot - between the 3rd and 4th night they showed up at our door asking us why we weren't checked out, even though they checked me in under all 3 reservations (cash, free night, points night) when we first arrived so we would be all set for...
Read moreI travel alot and stay in lots of hotels, but this is by far, the nicest looking, trashy hotel I've ever stayed in. They do NOT care about their guests and what they do care about is redundant. There is nobody who cleans the grounds around the hotel. There is no sense of purpose from the staff, in fact most of them actively avoid guests. They wear large headphones are walk past a guest asking a question with complete disregard. The breakfasts in the morning are a joke, and some of the cheapest and nastiest food I've had. If they bring bacon, be ready for meat sawdust in your mouth, and half the time, most of the food is under or over cooked. The services are usually out or just not worth the time. The dryer for my clothes I had too run 3 times and there is literally only ONE in there.
The location is far from anything unless you rent a car, so if you're like me and here for business, I hope you brought a company car. The nearest store is a mile away unless you want too hit the gas station which is, admittedly, the nicest thing about the hotel. It's sad when the food, customer service, and hospitality are bettor at a gas station, than a fine hotel.
Don't get me started on safety. Every external door is either unlocked completely, or completely locked. They have card readers, but they turned them off so you HAVE to use the main entrance. There is no smoking area, because all the smoking "areas" have 20 foot away signs right next too them. I can't make it up. So even though my room is at the end of the wing, I have to go all the way around to smoke and go all the way back around too get inside.
Most of the rooms seem too be like mine with bad seals, SO PULL YOUR DOOR CLOSED! Otherwise it won't actually close and latch. The room itself was filthy. They surface clean only. My microwave was riddled with food bits and burnt on shit that I had too clean myself after asking for housekeeping too clean up. The filters in my central air unit were so nasty, I've been sick all week after having too clean them myself. The fridge smelled so moldy, I was coughing and trying not too hurt, again, I had too clean it myself because they're people can't be bothered with it. The chair in my room almost broke when I sat in it and I almost made a lawsuit out of it when I had too go to the emergency room because my back was hurting so badly.
Oh and avoid the elevator. It needs OBVIOUS maintenance. I've never ACTUALLY felt like an elevator was going too fall when I used it.
My company will never use holiday Inn again, I have seen too that. I suggest you take your business elsewhere. A motel, would be a...
Read moreChecked in after 700pm after driving for many hours towards home. I was relieved to find this holiday Inn express much nicer than the one I stayed in the night before. The parking lot was well-lit, the lobby clean, the clerk nice and ihelpful. My room was very comfortable and clean. The beds clean, with white linens, which I prefer. The rooms are updated so this hotel may be fairly new.
Parking lots are an issue for me when I’m on a road trip as I do not like to park in dark corners, by large bushes and trucks, or too far from my room. I try to park upfront and under a lighted area. Especially when traveling alone. I was able to park in front on the hotel and felt safe coming back past sunset.
Breakfast was fine. I’m always happy when there is good coffee in the breakfast area. The food iis a decent selection for breakfast and will get you through the morning. Fresh fruit and yogurt is available. I was surprised by the quality of the cinnamon rolls -they were delicious .
My room had a great view of a pond? Or small lake, I’m not sure which....With ducks! ....which was a cool surprise for me. Very peaceful during the night and I slept well.
I booked the room the same day due to traveling home and not knowing where I would stay for sure. I felt fortunate this night that I had a comfortable room, restful sleep and good start for my next day of travel.
I would recommend this place for a night or more, depending on travel plans. It seems many people stay at the Inns for work-related travel.
I do know that I must request a refrigerator if I want one and this irritates me because I often forget. Some other hotels have them...
