Upon checking in, the front desk area had a very strong smell of chemical from room deodorizer (over-sprayed?). After we got the room key, we went to our room. The card key, open the room - however, there were people in the room already! We saw a baby on the bed, apologized and closed the door immediately. I went back to the front desk to tell him what happened. he explained to me that his co-worker probably forgot to check off the room (which I don't understand, as we had requested a "no-room deodorizer applied" in advance. He checked us in to another room (next door or two doors down), but the room had a terrible smell - hard to describe, but it may have been a combination of deodorizer and something else. Then we saw some dog waste just outside of the window (not on the walkway, but on the lawn). So I requested another room - this time, the room was on the second floor, which wasn't our preference, but at least there was air flow to get rid of the room smell, so we took it. We were not very impressed how the staff handled the situation, as there was not much follow-up and we weren't compensated in any way. We already had a future reservation to return to the same location one week later on our way back, but we decided to cancel the second reservation, and stayed at Motel 6 in Red Bluff. We may stay at other locations (currently making reservations for our June trip), but we won't be coming back to the Williams location in the future.
The cleanliness of the room rating below is for the second room (not the third room we actually stayed, which is about 7, which still had some dog smell). The condition rating is for the third room that we...
Read moreThis property had good reviews & that's why I chose it. I came to Williams for two nights. I checked in with Martin who was very nice. When I get to a hotel room, I check to make sure the TV, phone, refrigerator, microwave & toilet work. Everything was fine except the phone or so I thought. I called the front desk on my cell phone & told him the phone isn't working & could he bring a replacement. He did & it still wasn't working which meant it was the wall plug/socket. He offered to move me but I was hot, tired & hungry. A very bad combination. I could do this for two nights. The room door does not actually shut completely & it would be easy to walk away. Martin came down & fiddled with it & said it has to be shut really firmly til it clicks & you hear it lock. When I got back from eating, I turned the TV on. I didn't notice until then, the button you turn the bedside light on was missing, so no light. I had to use the whole room light. After the TV had been on for awhile, it started scrambling & only a couple of stations worked. It got worse as the evening went. It was the kind of cable system that was plugless otherwise I would have unplugged it & replugged it. I knew there was nothing the office could do that late, so I waited to call until the morning. I asked Anna if she could turn the rotor or modem off then on. She said she would have to call the cable company. She let me know there was no answer & she left a msg. When I got back that evening, the TV was the same if not worse. Oh, also the microwave goes on but does not heat the food. Manager not here on the weekends. Room 150 needs alot of...
Read moreWhen I worked at a university that had a travel agent, I asked them to book a Motel 6 for me for an upcoming trip. The lady said, snootily, that Motel 6 wasn't up to their standards. As one example, there weren't doors on the bathrooms.||||That was true. But they were an affordable, reasonable option for this part-time employee/student with dogs.||||I am pleased to say that Motel 6 has increased its standards. The Williams location not only has a door on the bathroom, but it also has a mini-fridge with freezer and microwave! They still only provide bar soap, but don't you prefer using your own shampoo anyway?||||We were on our way to southern Oregon but had gotten a late start. When I searched for affordable, dog-friendly places in Redding, I was striking out over and over. So I looked farther south and found this Motel 6 in Williams, just off the freeway. The price was reasonable and there were two queen beds and NO additional pet fees.||||We checked in with no problems and our room was exactly as I had hoped for. We re-froze our blue ice in the fridge and were able to store perishables in it as well. There were a few cigarette burns on the bedspread but that was the only complaint I had and it felt very minor. It was blazing hot all day and the in-room AC worked very well. ||||For our dogs, there was a nice strip of lawn on the edge of the parking lot that they very much enjoyed trundling through. There were even poop bags and a receptacle. What a nice touch.||||We heard no noise from neighbors and slept very well. The front desk extended our 11AM checkout with no argument. ||||10/10 would...
