My adult son flies to Oklahoma City to help me drive back to NJ each year (I start in AZ) and I wanted him to enjoy the places we stayed on the drive back. I found this through Travelocity. The only problem is that the listing implied internet but it is only in the winery room which (though open to use ) is empty during mid-week and is a walk or ride away and would be lonely for hours (the winery/cafe I believe is only open weekends). Son had HOURS of work to do but he figured out how to do some of the work minus the internet (and catch up next night). We both found our iPhones had great service here. It is too bad it couldn't be an evening of total relaxation for son.||||This is so close to the interstate yet it feels remote in a small town. We were given a code to get in the outside gate and then a code to get in Cabin 10. Worked impeccably. Cabin was nice and warm when we entered. The road is very rocky, we thought if pouring rain it might be tricky but we don't really know.||||We thought the cabin was adorable, eclectic decorating. I fell asleep while he was working in the ground-floor bed (Cabin 10) and eventually he went to sleep in the little loft up some stairs/ladder (great for children or the young). The ground floor bed was VERY comfortable, very stiff mattress which I personally enjoy. The lighting in that bathroom is very bad for women putting on makeup but we can all do without on occasion, right?|||| I texted Susan and asked about the internet, she would have refunded our stay; however, we both liked the little cabin and thought we could manage one night. We LOVED the lake (unfortunately you can't see it from the downstairs bed as there is a bench outside the window) but you can see from the porch (but too cold to be out there our one-night stay). We took a walk down the road and a friendly, huge shaggy dog came out begging for hugs and petting which we gladly accommodated. Later, Susan told me the dog's name is Yeti!!||||I really enjoyed before I got up in the morning the window opposite the bed I could see some of the horses that are stabled there early morning feeding. The coffee was good. Dishes and utensils are there too.||||Bring your own shampoo/conditioner (I guess cause none there) and the soaps were tiny but I always have extra amenities from other places. We did see some very small ants in the kitchen area and also up in the loft but it wasn't horrible. The water pressure was acceptable in the shower (there is a seat if you needed it). We brought our own food from a couple of nights in Oklahoma City eating out and such and so didn't leave for the evening.||||This place is good for reunions, family, lovers and most of all PRIVACY. I kept thinking Richard Kimble (an old tv series THE FUGITIVE) would have loved this place!||||I'd definitely come back, my son said he would with his girlfriend ! If you need some peace and serenity, this is...
Read moreWe rented three cabins on Shale Lake for a family get together. It was great! The cabins were clean & well appointed. Each cabin has a different theme, which was fun. (My husband & I were in the hippie cabin-perfect for us, although we were sad that the advertised lava lap wasn’t in sight). The cabin was the smallest of the three, but quite comfortable. We spent very little time inside-we were either outside or enjoying time on the screened in porch. |The grandkids loved sleeping in the loft & had a great time fishing & getting out on the lake. We made good use of the fire pits too. I enjoyed walking the trails, although I’m hoping they’re a little better maintained by our next visit. |One of the reasons we booked there was because we could bring our dogs. They had just as much fun as the rest of us! |Wifi wasn’t available in the cabins, but no one missed it (not even the 6 year old who claimed she’d probably die without it). Cell phone service was excellent. It was wonderful to be able to be together in such a beautiful,...
Read moreWe were sad we only needed to stay here for one night! We rented a cottage which was perfect! (The 14 year old was ready to stay permanently!) A beautiful place to stay that was really clean and comfortable. It was beautifully decorated with quality items, had comfortable beds, friendly and helpful owners, and we were able to watch a pretty sunset at the lake with horses grazing on the hillside besides. I would definitely recommend it highly to anyone! Oh, and there is ramp to each cottage so they'd be okay as far as handicap accessibility. My mom wasn't with me, but I have taken her enough places with her wheelchair and walker that I am sure her walker would be fine and I think it would be tight but workable for her chair. They have a little restaurant area where you can order appetizers and pizza and either eat them there or bring them back to your place and eat. We definitely got our money's worth...
