I wish I had read other reviews prior to booking. We were looking for a quite place to stay in the hill country for a few days. This one popped up and the pictures made it look enticing.||||I received the booking confirmation with instructions that a Saturday arrival needs to go to the courtesy desk at the local grocery store to get the key. We found the grocery store and went in. After several minutes of looking they did not find our envelope with the key or anything with our name on it. They said to just go out there and maybe someone was there. I looked through my emails and found another one that had shown up while we were driving with completely different instructions on how to get in. It said we were to go to the place and the key would be under a planter.||||We drove out a few miles and found it (difficult to find in the dark) and there were a whole bunch of people around a fire pit, several hammocks hanging in the trees and bicycles all over the place. We did not expect neighbors since that was not clear in the description. We found a small sign and a place to park on the side of the "cottage". We walked up and the key was in the door, not where it said it would be.||||We unloaded and as we were our neighbors (who were certainly having a good time) came over and said they were going to be there for a few days and join them if we wanted. It was a nice gesture, but not what we were expecting. Needless to say we did not get to use the hot tub, fire pit or enjoy the views as described as it was always too crowded. Later I found the info on the other half of our "private cottage" and says it sleeps 4. They had more than 4 people in there and we could hear them through the walls. ||||The inside was ok. On the table were the rules. I am fine with rules but when they don't apply to the unit you are in it makes things confusing. They mentioned an upstairs (there isn't one), wash the dishes (there is no kitchen and the only sink is in the bathroom), that no firewood could be used, only the fake logs you buy at the store, but that the grill outside could use wood and be used as the fire pit. WHAT? None of this made sense.||||The bed was very uncomfortable and covered with some kind of plastic that was very loud each time you moved. The cable TV was basic, there was no wifi as described and the instructions on how to use the dvd player were wrong. The coffee maker was disgusting and partially broken. I had to clean it prior to using it and only used it once. We went into town for coffee after that. Kitchenette? Not even close. A microwave and a toaster do not make a kitchenette. There was dirt on the floors, cobwebs in most corners, hair in the drawers of the bathroom cabinets, etc etc. The only views we had were to the bushes, no sweeping views of the valley as described. It was just disappointing.||||We were told to do the dishes and clean everything before we left, well, we left it better than we found it for sure. We had to purchase paper towels and kleenex as no paper products were provided aside from the roll of toilet paper.||||This place has potential but really needs to be managed better and the descriptions are...
Read moreWe booked a trip to Texas Hill Country and found this great B&B with great reviews. We chose to pay the extra $20/night to have a hot breakfast delivered to the cabin each day. Long story short, we did not get breakfast. Rather there was a selection of bagels, muffins and yogurt in our mini fridge when we arrived, and no information on how to contact the owner or any instructions about the cottage in general. We called All Wimberley Lodging (whom we booked through) after getting no breakfast the first day, and never heard back. We called again on our last day (they weren't open on Sunday in between), and they had no idea what had gone wrong. After some detective work, we learned that the owner Cherrie, had changed her policy and prices as of 2/1/14 (the second night of our stay), but we were never notified. She was completely unapologetic and refused to give us a refund of the $20/day (All Wimberley did agree to give us $5/day back...her new rate). I found the entire interaction to be extremely rude and poor business practice, particularly when she hung up on me. While her property is nice, I think the terrible customer service far outweighs the positives on...
Read moreThe Hilltop Cottage was a great place for myself, my husband and our dog and it was a very reasonable rate. The inside of the cottage was beautifully decorated and VERY comfortable. HUGE bathroom! Cozy bedroom.|Great TV, small frig. and microwave oven. Great area to walk our dog. I would love to visit here again! Nice area with a( shared) hot tub. But we were the only guests at that time.|ONLY small complaint...the rental agency said the cottage was within walking distance|of town, and it really isn't. (and I do love to walk) but this was alittle far, with no safe shoulder on the roadside. Also, agency said it was a "stand alone cottage" and it is actually part of a duplex type. But the other guestscame in later and were very quiet. Other than these 2 minor issues, we had a great stay and hope to go again soon! I would...
